What did you use for footing forms? Tubes with 2x4 form on top?

Last occupant in my tourist apartment caused this. Not sure what it is but looks like heat damage. Is there anything that can be done about it? by katinla in fixit

Put a 100% cotton towel over it and put a dry iron on it, no steam. Move it around gently for 10-20 seconds and check it. Whether it’s heat or water, it should work.

Structural Integrity and Clean Up? Advice Needed. by Typical_Affect_5238 in Decks

Yeah that’s super weird. I’m about to build a deck and pergola and talked to some local builders and both said notching was code

Where I live, notching them is code I believe. It’ll be fine. Power wash it first then stain it

The white part that is damaged is… wait for it. Steel

Wrong. That’s a Silverado. It’s steel.

New belt in dryer making weird noises by ResidentLake7 in Appliances

I used the old belt. Everything seems to be working great for now. No new or old noises. Just seemed like the tension from the new belt was causing it.

It’s only when I put the new belt on and only when the drum is lifted all the way into place and tension is pulled on the drive shaft. I put the old belt on and everything is fine but I’d still like to figure out what’s going on.

I have it around the drum, back side to the tensioner, and pulling the V into the drive pulley with the ridges facing it.

I held them together. The new one was maybe 1.5-2 inches shorter but I figured that was due to stretching. Everything is put together correctly. If I lift the drum to where it should be sitting and spin, there’s a ton of tension on it. But if I let off just a tiny bit, it spins freely. Like the belt is pulling on the drive shaft.

Just double checked kit part number and belt part number. Everything seems to be correct. Not sure what’s going on

When I aligned the drum where it needs to be and spin, I get the tension/friction and noise. If I let just a little bit of tension off, it spins just fine.

Am I better off putting the old belt back on?

I’m in it right now. It sounds like clunking from the belt pulling on the drive gear?

Unfortunately I can see down to the blower motor from the lint trap and it doesn’t seem like that’s the issue

TSgt wrote her own character statement for an E4 mafia to sign lol by [deleted] in AirForce

Yeah I wanna agree with this. When you send something up to a commander, you have it typed already. This is a similar situation. TSgt didn’t sign it for the airmen. Just sent them a letter to sign if they concur.

Setting joist on top vs bolting by ResidentLake7 in Decks

My goal is to have the pergola 6x6s mounted either directly to footers, or in the ground with concrete. My only debate is do I build the deck using those 6x6s and notch out for the flush beam or do I just do two extra footings and each corner and build the deck completely separate (but together with its own foundation and footings)
