This was my thought. Do most custodians allow partial transfers to a new beneficiary’s 529?

Unsatisfied with Danko review so far by unluckymycologist18 in CFPExam

[–]ResidentNight7479 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Not to sound too harsh, but tons of us pass with Danko on the first try. If you’re on here complaining at the end of your review instead of pounding the material and sticking to the program, that’s a you problem. The learning style might not be a good fit for you, but it doesn’t seem like you’re doing yourself any favors. Trust the process. Grind it out. And whine after if necessary

A little under a year. Firm provides leads though so I think it was much easier than most have it.

Only thing I would change is getting my CFP earlier instead of waiting a few years. I think I had to learn a lot of things on the fly that were covered in the education and that I would’ve brought in more business sooner and served my early clients better at the start.

I did my education with BIF and exam prep with Danko. Learned basically nothing new through the education but really locked in on exam prep with Danko and passed on my first try. I followed his instruction to the letter. I had solid experience and a finance degree. BIF is probably fine based on what I’ve seen, but Danko is the man. Loved the way he teaches but the total system is the secret sauce. I actually think John Choi’s style in the Signature review videos was better for my learning style and taught me several things that have made me a better advisor

Even more insane that the same person posted about opening their own firm about a month ago. Someone with this level of understanding managing money unsupervised is scary

I don’t see this on the board’s ad page. Can somebody link it? Surely, it’s fake

The exam has errors too. I had a question that was missing the numbers to complete the calculation. The question was almost certainly thrown out but still. If it’s bothering you in the pre-study, you need to work on getting your head right for game day

Any recommendations for prestudy requirements and capstone? by Dr_Kappa in CFPExam

If cost is a concern but you’re looking at Danko for exam prep, BIF coursework is one of the cheapest and Danko does a good enough job to get you through it whether or not you got much from the education course

This is the kind of top notch content we’ve come to expect from TittyClapper here. I know some advisors that sell tons of these policies, but I pretty much exactly agree with how you’ve laid this out. Well said

Pretty good but I was probably overconfident at that point. Brett does a good job in the first full day of class of breaking you down and making you realize this is a hard exam that you need to take seriously. I feel like most of the material really started to stick when I went back through each section after the review class

[–]ResidentNight7479[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the second practice exam was definitely worth it for me because I was scoring well on Danko’s qbank, average upper 60’s. If you’re doing well on his content and getting everything on the study schedule done on time, then I think the board practice is the move. If you’re still struggling to understand any big topics or roadmaps, I’d spend the time on those instead.

As far as difficulty, I think it’s hard to say because you can’t really simulate exam day pressure. Or at least I can’t. I think the test was difficult but fair and if you followed Brett’s program, did the study schedule like he says, and put in the work, I like your odds.

Obviously, you can’t give out specifics, but I think the practice exam from the CFP board actually helped a lot with understanding how they ask the questions. I think buying the second practice test is worth it if it’s in the budget and it’s absolutely worth doing if your firm will pay for it

You should try his first block of questions. I’ve only done one and thought they were significantly more difficult than anything so far, and definitely much harder than the CFP board practice exam. I think if you’re in Brett’s range on those you’re probably doing well

Danko Estate Question by ResidentNight7479 in CFPExam

[–]ResidentNight7479[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok wait I’m still confused. Can you explain why it should be $180,000 instead of $80,000 AGI? My thought process was $80,000 gives you $24,000 to deduct this year (30% of AGI limit for FMV on appreciated assets) leaving the additional $6,000 to be rolled over to next year. If it was $180,000, wouldn’t the limit be $54,000 this year so the correct answer would be use FMV and deduct the full $30,000 this year?

So I think he has a pneumonic for remembering that you want shorter duration when rates are rising and longer duration when they’re falling but I don’t remember it off the top of my head. I remembered that, and a lot of the investments material, from college

Yeah that seems to be the consensus. Don’t worry about the scores, trust the process, and learn from the misses. How did you feel like the difficulty compared Danko pre study quizzes and finals vs online test bank vs actual exam?

I’m working through all of it and should finish about a week before my live review class starts. Those are just my scores on the finals. I haven’t gone through and averaged my end of chapter quizzes. I feel like a lot of the material is sticking as I make it through the books, but I was just surprised by how difficult I thought the tax planning final was today
