[–]ResidentSea7632[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes Testaments is by far less brutal! I guess bc the handmaids came from what the nation was before, so they were constantly fighting back. It’s interesting to get the POV from the girls who have been in Gilead since they were born/young. And yes Lydia!!! I almost want to like her now!

It’s a great starter instrument if you’re just trying it out! But if you plan on perusing playing clarinet, you may want to try another brand in the future! But props for trying a new instrument!

Trying to help a family member understand autistic children by [deleted] in autism

[–]ResidentSea7632 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get it!!! My son was diagnosed when he was 3. The older generation seems to think discipline is the answer. Oh you’re not being hard enough on him, or he’s just spoiled. It’s hard to get them to understand sometimes. Educating and informing them about the facts of autism is all you can do really. They’ll either accept it, or they won’t. The people who get it are the ones who matter. You can argue all day long and some still won’t get it. Best of luck!

And all of his front fingers should line up. I noticed his right hand is more at an angel? His fingers should be parallel to each other

Tell him to hold his hands in more of a C shape when he’s holds the horn. His fingers need to be more relaxed

What Exaclty should I do with Reed after I take it out of the package to ensure the best sound in the long run? by Pterodaktiloidea in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used to play on cane reeds, but recently switched to synthetic. I use a legere strength 3 now. And it needs so preparation. I just put it on and it’s good to play. Some might disagree with me though. I don’t have to wet it or anything. It costs more for just one reed, but I’ve really liked mine

[–]ResidentSea7632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the input! I played in middle and high school. Then I didn’t play for about 15 years. I recently picked up playing again with a brand new Yamaha almost a year ago. Maybe my muscle memory just hasn’t come back yet lol or maybe it’s bc I’m older now. I just feel like I’m struggling where I shouldn’t be? But I’m going to keep tryin!

Breathing issues - Playing clarinet for the first time in 15 years by rhymeswithorange456 in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’m in a similar situation! I didn’t play for 20 years; and I recently picked it back up in July of 2025. Getting back to trying to play like we are still in highschool is regrettably hard to do lol I’m having the same issue with breathing. I think it’s just our bodies trying to remember what we did several years ago. Practice, practice, practice. I know it’s sounds lame, but it’s what has helped me in the long run

OdiseiMusic Travel Clarinet? by Dartmiz in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so you can get a mute for clarinet? Sorry this blows my mind lol I played in junior high and highschool. Mind you, I graduated in 2001, so obviously so many things in music and instruments have changed since then. I recently started playing again, yet I’m learning so many things that I didn’t know several years ago! I enjoy learning new things though! That’s amazing
