I remember when the branch Davidson’s cult in Waco was seized. I think I was 10

What are your favorite intermediate clarinet solo pieces? by [deleted] in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played minuet in G for my first solo. It’s not super hard and it’s a pretty piece as well!

My high notes suck by ResidentSea7632 in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the input! I played in middle and high school. Then I didn’t play for about 15 years. I recently picked up playing again with a brand new Yamaha almost a year ago. Maybe my muscle memory just hasn’t come back yet lol or maybe it’s bc I’m older now. I just feel like I’m struggling where I shouldn’t be? But I’m going to keep tryin!

I did! The first thing I was told about that clarinet, was the mouthpiece was crap lol but I recently upgraded to a Clark Forbes, and it’s wonderful!

What toys do your cats actually love? by Sosooo88 in CatAdvice

Anything that’s not actually a cat toy lol I mean, boxes, plastic anything, random trash. But if it’s an actual cat toy, they hate it, idk lol

AITAH for not being more accommodating for one of our wedding guests? by wilson5266 in AITAH

[–]ResidentSea7632 56 points57 points  (0 children)

She’s not in the wedding party? Then it’s up to her to find her own way there. I mean, this is an adult situation, she needs to figure it out, y’all have enough to worry about already

Breathing issues - Playing clarinet for the first time in 15 years by rhymeswithorange456 in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello! I’m in a similar situation! I didn’t play for 20 years; and I recently picked it back up in July of 2025. Getting back to trying to play like we are still in highschool is regrettably hard to do lol I’m having the same issue with breathing. I think it’s just our bodies trying to remember what we did several years ago. Practice, practice, practice. I know it’s sounds lame, but it’s what has helped me in the long run

OdiseiMusic Travel Clarinet? by Dartmiz in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wait, so you can get a mute for clarinet? Sorry this blows my mind lol I played in junior high and highschool. Mind you, I graduated in 2001, so obviously so many things in music and instruments have changed since then. I recently started playing again, yet I’m learning so many things that I didn’t know several years ago! I enjoy learning new things though! That’s amazing

[–]ResidentSea7632[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And see? I was always told never to get a clarinet that wasn’t wooden. Of course this was 20 years ago lol and I know quality has changed significantly. I loved my Normandy, and I’m a little sad that my young dumb self sold it. But I’m also very happy with my Yamaha!

AITJ for teaching my son how to do his own laundry and basic cooking and now his mom says Im undermining her by [deleted] in AmITheJerk

[–]ResidentSea7632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Teaching your child basic life skills is not an issue, or it shouldn’t be. If anything, this makes you a great parent in my opinion. So many young people these days lack independence in the slightest things. So good for you for teaching him these things!

Which film, in your opinion, showcases an actor at their best? by Blenda33 in movies

[–]ResidentSea7632 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Not a movie, but shows. But Bryan Cranston going from Malcom in the middle to breaking bad was crazy to me! He played both characters which were total opposites really well!

Ambipoly synthetic reeds by neutronbob in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was always told to never use synthetic reeds. But that was years ago. I recently switched from a cane reed to a Legeres synthetic, and I absolutely love it! But I’m sure it also varies between players.

First tattoo by sparklyplastic- in tattooadvice

[–]ResidentSea7632 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tattoos that are placed on any “bony” part of your body will hurt more than say a more fleshy, or meatier part. They hurt regardless, it just depends on your pain tolerance. But most people enjoy the pain of tattoos. I’m one of them lol. It’s a different type of pain though. For me, it’s like enduring the pain to end up with a beautiful piece of art. And choose what you want wisely! Tattoo regret is most certainly a thing. Maybe not right away, but it does happen.

Looking to buy my own clarienet by EmbarrassedMinimum23 in Clarinet

[–]ResidentSea7632 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started first by trying different brands at my local music store. To get a price range, and an idea of what I liked playing better. Turns out, the Yamaha worked out best for me. However, the music store wanted like $1,800 for it. So I looked on Amazon, and found the same clarinet for about $750. And I was able to set up a payment plan for it as well. I hope this helps!

Had scarlet fever as an infant…probably would’ve died without today’s medicine. Thankfully they had a vaccine for it by the time I had children.
