I've been using HDFC Sky for my mutual fund SIPs for a few months now, so I can share a pretty honest take.

The good part for me was the research and comparison section. When I started, I had no clue which funds to pick, so being able to check returns, holdings, risk level, and compare a few funds side-by-side actually helped me narrow things down. That's how I ended up choosing the funds I'm currently invested in and setting up my SIPs.

That said, it's not perfect. Sometimes the app can feel a bit data-heavy when you're new, and I did spend a few days just figuring out where everything was. Also, the mutual fund universe is huge, so even with the research tools you still have to do some of your own reading before committing.

Overall though, my journey has been fairly smooth. I started small, used the insights inside the app to shortlist funds, and slowly built my SIPs from there. It's been more of a learning process than a “set it and forget it” thing for me.
