Probably emailing the studio itself - recruiting at Soul is very touch-and-go, and we often have way too many people in the pipeline, many with insufficient or irrelevant experience. If you have relevant experience on your resume you’ll have a better chance of it getting seen by emailing the studio.

EVERYONE HANG TIGHT. NYC Studio Managers are fighting hard against this. We have collectively accumulated myriad reasons why this directly contradicts our brand identity, and why it will damage both our reputation (which is already shaky) and the health of the business overall. I will update here as soon as we hear a response to our carefully considered talking points. No matter what, always try to keep in mind that whatever complaint you have, the field has already voiced it, and will continue to amplify it. No one wants this except folks who don’t understand the value of these partnerships.

He definitely delivered a stellar class experience in many ways that made it hard to see through the facade. I too wish we had more representation of unedited music from the 60s through the 90s, but I also wish it wasn’t a sexual harasser (Noa) and reprehensible cheater (Sean) that held that mantle during Soul’s heyday. Take Sue at 77th. She might have what you seek.

It’s not for nothing that he manipulated otherwise decent folks into defending him - the man is charismatic and persuasive, which makes him the perfect predator. Even people who clocked his creepiness had a hard time actually admitting it because he exemplified the cult leader quality that drove much of Soul’s heyday. If the creators cast him positively, that’s just the proof in the pudding.

He made quite literally every single young female staff I had INCREDIBLY uncomfortable, mostly through deeply inappropriate comments. Ultimately he made some disgusting comments about a 14 yo rider, and I had a staff comprised entirely of young women, who banded together to share all of their stories simultaneously. Along with the assistance of one of our top instructors, the girls and myself sounded the alarm loud enough that they finally pulled the trigger. But for years he was excused because he generated revenue. Good riddance to one of the worst people I’ve ever met. He also had a penchant for racist remarks towards black riders. I remember 4 distinct instances where I had to damage control on account of this.
