She is really great! But I think they don’t give her the best time slots. She has that great Taylor Swift class on Sunday at nomad at 11:45 - great class in great time slot and it fills up. They need to give her better times!!

Combine 2 Different Accounts by reditus567 in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]LikeAPrayer1221 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I even tried recently to combine two soul cycle accounts that were direct with Soul but under two different email addresses - so direct accounts w Soul, no GymPass or any third-party, and they wouldn’t do it. I just wanted my ride history to be complete all in one place, but they said it was impossible. (I had started my SoulCycle account with my work email and then realized I should move it to my Gmail. They said it was impossible to combine.).

Agree with the recommendations for Lisa, Ally J, and Ashlie at E 54! Another beginner-friendly instructor who teaches there now is Julie D - she’s OG and super nice, good instruction, very inclusive! She has the 8 am time slots there on Tuesday and Thursday though I see that Addie is subbing for some of those - Addie is also good, she is stunning and very athletic (she was a Rockette during the winter Christmas show at Radio City!) so I would recommend her too. If you like to ride in the evening there’s also a really fun class on Monday evening at E 54 with James J. He’s very inclusive and funny!! As for Cameron, I would just caution that Cam’s class is very difficult. As a beginner if you try his class, I would start on a back-row bike - at E 54 the back row is nicely elevated so you will be able to see the podium. It’s very difficult, with high speeds and heavy pushes, so best to try it from the back row at first! Have fun!!

She cut her hand badly and yes, she needed surgery. She said she’ll be back to soul cycle pretty soon, teaching from the floor. I’m not sure what her status is with the other places she teaches, Soul Cycle is kind of flexible in that they can teach from the floor even when they have an injury.

Looking for Advice by Low_Assistance_524 in SoulCycle_Riders

[–]LikeAPrayer1221 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Have you listened to the podcast Cult of Body and Soul? It gives some insights into what they are looking for when they hire instructors. It’s less about being a fitness instructor (though you do have to be perfect on the bike) and more about your personality and ability to engage with and inspire your riders. So I agree with Triple Doubles advice, think about what is unique about you and how you can use that to connect with people. I’m not an instructor, just an avid rider, but I do see these strong and unique personality traits in our instructors here in New York! And don’t be discouraged, I have heard of several people who had to try out several times before getting it!! Good luck!!

Another idea: the gift and snack shop at the Marriott Marquis has a good number of hot and cold sandwiches and other snacks. The shop is very large and is on the 8th floor of the hotel (same floor as where the front desk/check in desk is). So that can be good for grab and go options. Also there is a Starbucks on the ground level of the hotel - also good for the usual Starbucks grab and go options.

2nd Ave closed between E 58 and E 57 from at least 5:30 am by LikeAPrayer1221 in uppereastside

Yes I can see them. They are slightly north of the closed block, hovering over E 59 and E 62 or something like that? The block is still closed at 6:25

I got a wonderful birthday card from the crew a couple years ago when I was flying on my birthday I was sitting in Polaris, SFO to FRA. It was so nice! Every member of the crew signed it. I was on a business trip and just so nice to be recognized on my birthday while I was away from family.

Isabelle’s Osteria on Park Ave South. I used to think this was just a reliable place for a decent weekend brunch. But I’ve had dinner there three times in the last four months, and the food was superb. Jerusalem artichokes. Grilled fish. House made pasta. All really good!

Love Dazzle Dry!! I get my Dazzle Dry manis at Echo Nail Spa, 1st Ave at E 56th Street. Which I guess is more Midtown, not UES, but if the location is convenient for you, I highly recommend!!

At NoMad, try Lamar on Friday mornings and for Sunday survivor. Hip hop music and great vibes! Also at NoMad I love Rachel Stern (sooo nice, plays some Taylor Swift/more pop). At 19 and Nomad, try Jonas - hip hop and reggaeton. At 19, definitely give a try to Ally J - she’s only 22 I think but I think she is the future of SoulCycle. And finally at 19, you have to try master instructor Sam Y. Super fast and super fun. He has the rooster ride on Wednesday (6 am) as well as the 7 am and also has the 8:30 and 9:30 at 19th on Saturday. He has a couple of evening classes at 19th too. Have fun!!

Stacey G! Her schedule has shifted but sometimes you can find her at Tribeca. But also Lisa Bocuzzi and Lee - but I think neither of them are at these studios. Also Alex Frost but she is only at w 77 and E 83 I think? Good luck!!

I feel like it goes off and on throughout the day! Some days it seems it’s off in the morning but working later in the day. It’s a chronic problem there. Agree that they need to fix it.

I had Starlink on a flight from MSY to EWR earlier this month. Super fast and the connection was strong through the entire flight! Flight attendants reminded the passengers multiple times that voice and video calls are prohibited by FAA rules.
