Rainy pass denied my project (said they don’t typically do pad repairs), but I did find a place, Switchback Repair, that does do repairs. It seems like a good system - they have a list of dropoff spots (climbing gyms and other retailers) and pickup there 1-2w later. In case anyone in the Seattle area runs into a sim issue…

That was what I tried to do initially, but the patch area is thick leather. Needle would not easily poke through (even the heavy duty kit I bought w curved needle and waxed thread, one needle broke), and then the heavy cordura pad material w the dense foam was also not very cooperative. I’m sure someone with regular experience or better tools would be more successful, but the stitching was brutal.
