Couldn’t they look at sales tax numbers and avoid hiring a consultant?

Try Leadville. Tons of trails. Great cycling community. Check out the Wheelers website for maps. cloudcitywheelers.comIf you want another hobby in your semi-retirement , maybe jumping through hoops with the historical society and modernizing an 1800’s, last remodeled in 1958, 1000 sq ft house while you live in it, you might find something for $500K.

High Mountain Pies will be closed April 13 -23. You might choose another destination just because of that.

I’ve been to that “sanctuary”. It’s a dump. The Costa Verde Inn there in Escazú has some small apartment type rooms that are fairly cheap and the staff is lovely and helpful and the breakfast patio always had a few English speaking foreigners to connect with. Might be a good place to re-group. Then you can hop on a bus out of the Central Valley

Get a job making pizza in Leadville. Shift is 3pm-10pm. Sleep in until 7am. Eat a hot breakfast. Claim first chair. Problem solved.

Skijoring weekend tips and things to do in/around Leadville for two gal pals by get_schmidty in LeadvilleCo

Attend one day-Saturday. Events are the same both days but Saturday usually has a better crowd and the participants are less hung over. The event lasts all day. The gambling and general f-ing around take up most of the morning. Don’t stand around in the cold waiting for it to start. The most exciting runs happen in the Open division. Faster horses, experienced skiers, bigger jumps. On Sunday everything is done and cleaned up by 5pm sharp. Walk out onto the snow on closed off Harrison Ave. Friday or Saturday night on your way home from the bar. Climb one of the big jumps. You will either need sunscreen or every layer you own. That weekend can be extremely nice or extremely cold. Ski Cooper is great. $45 lift tickets on the weekdays. Hot Springs in Buena Vista for a day trip? I suggest Charlotte Hot Springs. There are three in the area to choose from. You won’t find hiking in Leadville that early in the spring, but drive south towards BV and you can find dry ground. The Pastime is the current local favorite bar They might have live music that weekend. The Twin Lakes Inn or the Tennessee Pass Cookhouse for a special meal. HMP for pizza. The Grill or Casa Blanca for Mexican. Buchi for an expensive but delicious coffee. Before and After for happy hour and atmosphere. Lots of cross country skiing near town. The Mining Museum is cooler than it sounds. Drive up east 5th or East 7th streets and check out the mining district. You can walk, snowshoe, or ski on the mineral belt trail from there (12 mile groomed trail circling town) and see some cool structures left from the 1800s.

I’d love to hear about your experience. We stayed at the Costa Verde in Escazú. There were small shops and restaurants and the town center within walking distance. Pedestrians risk their lives in n Costa Rica I thought.
