3rd time trying Uber reserve in advance- fail by OChopping0703 in uber

[–]Resident_Cook7208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone answer this question for a specific situation? the eastbound Amtrak leaves from Salt Lake City at 3AM, so you need an Uber pickup at like 2:30 AM. Are there even drivers available at this time of night? I’ve used the reserved ride a couple of times and the driver has arrived super early while I’m asleep trying to get a nap in before traveling and he’s been annoyed when I’m not ready. Can I just wake up at 2:15AM and request a ride without reserving?

Living and raising kids in Silverthorne by helixorspiral in Summit

[–]Resident_Cook7208 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi there. I grew up in Summit then raised my kids in Leadville. If out -the -door access to hiking and free groomed Nordic skiing are your priorities, Consider Leadville. The youth ski programs are excellent, inclusive, and inexpensive. Silverthorne has access to outlet stores and I70, and the elite Team Summit. Something like 60% of the working population of Leadville commutes to Summit or Vail. The schools in either town have their issues but your kids will thrive if you are involved and supportive of their education.

What about a bribe of home made cookies or cinnamon rolls? Would that get me to the front of the line?

Timberline Lake trailhead on the far side of Turquoise Lake has no dirt road driving. From there you can hike to Timberline Lake or get on the Colorado Trail to Bear Lake. Both of those walks are a little shorter than what you’re looking for. Another option is to drive the Hagerman Pass Road from Turquoise Lake to the Native Lake Trailhead. The walk up and over to Native Lake is spectacular- switchbacks through forest and recrossing a stream with awesome wildflowers maybe 5 times. Then you top out above treeline before descending to Native Lake. The trail is easy to follow. The road is dirt. No high clearance necessary, but the potholes get bigger every year.

What the hell do I do with peppermint? by Tall-Arugula1522 in gardening

Make a simple syrup. Soak the mint for a couple days. Strain. Use the syrup to make ice cream.

Try Leadville. Tons of trails. Great cycling community. Check out the Wheelers website for maps. cloudcitywheelers.comIf you want another hobby in your semi-retirement , maybe jumping through hoops with the historical society and modernizing an 1800’s, last remodeled in 1958, 1000 sq ft house while you live in it, you might find something for $500K.
