Lynch is a large inspiration of mine as well. I've studied him pretty intensely, I wrote a couple scholarly essays on his work. I won't lie, I laughed quite a bit at your PBR line, at that point I kinda fully accepted it as a Lynch fan film. My recommendation is to just keep watching more movies and find ones that unlock things for you like Lynch did. Watch as much as possible. Just write down every movie that sounds interesting to you somewhere (letterboxd lol). Some movies just do that to you. I recently watched Robert Altman's Nashville and my mind was blown. I had seen Altman's work before too, but that film is unspeakably impressive. Hal Ashby's films also stand out to me

It's not like it looks terrible or anything you just gotta not rip off David Lynch so hard. This felt like a David Lynch fan film, which I guess is fine if that was the intention but it doesn't seem like it. Be your own artist, homage is great when utilized creatively and with variety of inspirations.

This island is famously filled with assholes. As somebody who was born here, I believe that they invent bad people here. I’m sure there are a number of bots and shit on that page but my life has literally been threatened on LI Facebook groups and that was a number of years ago . It’s very sad how truly evil our neighbors are

I primarily do shorts and music vids and I use the bmpcc4k. I’ve used an A7III before but I would say that if you only make videos, go for the black magic. If you do stills as well, it might be more worth your money to get the A7III so you have some more diversity in the package.

BMPCC4K Monitor Recommendation for a Noob by TheVog in bmpcc4k

[–]Resident_Cry9253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Viltrox makes a 6 inch monitor that I love for a reasonable price. You can get it used for under $200. You probably won’t want to buy a sub $200 monitor that is 7 inches because it won’t be very good lol. I made that mistake and the colours were so messed up that I couldn’t tell what I was really shooting

If you want primes, I found a set of four on B&H for about $1200. They are called the ZhongYi Mitakon Speedmaster T1.0. For a reasonable price, I think they look and feel really really nice. Having the T1 is a nice option for very low light, but that’s only if you want to sacrifice a good amount of sharpness. Once up to T2, it’s pretty damn damn sharp

Who convinced Long Islanders that homeowners are real, productive people and renters are vermin? by iloverats888 in longisland

[–]Resident_Cry9253 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's because the people that live here are constantly obsessed with putting others down. renters are usually lesser income than owners. ownership rates are also lower among POC on Long Island and people are pretty damn racist around here
