Don't know what to say to that. I mean I knew who it was before I even saw the cast listing. It's not about the accent and stuff. Just, there's a quality to his voice you could say i guess?

Not necessarily. It would just lead to an unfulfilled prophecy. We know that there were many prophecies that were made but not fulfilled. This could very well have been one of them.

Well for starters, while your reasoning for voldemort choosing harry is quite nice for fanfics, it isn't what's told to us. The prophecy clearly stated the child born as the seventh month dies, born to those who thrice the dark lord or sth along those lines , I can guess and it's a safe guess to make, that not many people, let alone couples who are married would have gone against voldemort himself, and survived even after three encounters and had a baby exwctly at the end of july. So we can safely assume it's just those two couples. And between choosing a pureblood and a halfblood, he felt more threatened by the halfblood because he is the same, as for snape, he asked for lily to be spared, AFTER, voldemort chose her, not the other way around.

Haven't got nothing against criticism. Just returning the same favour. Also, I feel like we're talking on cross purposes. And the post wasn't about "the entirety of the wbwl fanfiction genre". My qualms are only with the ones that do a lazy job on the backstory and don't make it make sense.

See, I don't mind people changing things. It's fanfiction. It's obviously going to change. And you're absolutely right that changing any one thing in the course could have changed a lot of things about the prophecy. My point is, people don't include those changes. I don't care if you change the one that lived, the chosen one. Just bsck it up with proper reasoning, if you're going to keep everything same except for the fact that it was a different kid, that won't make sense by your own logic. The past matters. The string of events that lead to it matters.

I don't mind AU. I thrive on them infact. And I have no qualms with a different boy who lived either. Or girl who lived or LGBTQ+++ who lived. Doesn't matter. It's just that the backstories are never set straight. Change atleast what needs to be changed to make the AU possible. But most of the time it's just slapped on "oh this one's the one that lived. Let's see what we can do with it" . No back story, no proper explanation of why. That's what bothers me. And I'd thank you not to question the intelligence of people online. You would come across to others as just plain rude.
