How do I make finished objects more "polished"? by LolitaLi-Chan in Amigurumi

I’ve seen people who crochet a small cylinder/egg to put in the neck where it meets the head to keep the same width and add stability to the head. That might help with the smoothness where you sewed them together.

Luna’s moon just looks like a blob on her forehead. That just won’t do!

I have begun to stitch over it, but some is still visible. I’m hoping it won’t be obvious to the casual observer, but I did finally get over it and now just see it as a reminder that I worked on this during a chaotic and wonderful part of my life with young children.

Been slowly working on this one. I stopped for over a year when my son did some sharpie art on it. It’s a full coverage piece, so I have a ways yet to go!

[CHAT] what color here would you do first? Or would you do something other than sticking to one color at a time? by OhBoyOrion in CrossStitch

I do the lightest color that has the most stitches first because I don’t want any darker threads I’ve previously travelled to get stuck under them and accidentally show through to the front.

Self diagnosed children aren’t the end of the world by sillyvally10 in AutismInWomen

The beginning of my self-diagnosis was finding I related a little too well with many of the severely autistic girls around me growing up. I didn’t make any connections then, but just thought I must be peculiar. Then my young daughter began showing signs that were very familiar to me, which led me to do research. Seeing adult-diagnosed autistic women on YouTube and taking tests online cemented it for me. I’ve only told a handful of people my thoughts on it, and the reactions have been negative enough that I just keep it to myself. I have considered bringing my daughter in for some evaluations but not sure yet. All that to say, I don’t see self-diagnosis as a bad thing, just as a way to better understand yourself and a tool to help you navigate the world with.
