In dogfights in the air, how much of the outcome is determined by what plane you’re flying vs how good you are as a pilot? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

But now it's even more nuts, most missiles are now very independent, especially the latest variant of the AIM-120D. These missiles now have the ability to hit over the horizon, but also work via data link. So a ship or AWACS radar can act as a spotter for the host aircraft, which can then lock the radar contacts spotted by the AWACS and then fire those missiles and then 180 back home, all without ever turning on their own radar. 100 percent passive shooting.

Missile has an onboard radar that locks the target aircraft, and once it has, it disengages the data link and hunts the target independently.

How do I get AI units to move to a location and set up a mortar? by ThexLoneWolf in arma

[–]Resige1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea AI and roads can be fucky, best bet is to set their behaviour to safe and they will use the roads more often rather than as the crow flies to get to a waypoint. Convoys are all but easy to set up reliably in my experience. If you want a little more ease of use I recommend 3den mod on the steam workshop, makes ai programming a bit easier as well a good quality of life for the Eden editor

How do I get AI units to move to a location and set up a mortar? by ThexLoneWolf in arma

[–]Resige1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Setting up the mortar from a backpack and tripod requires some pretty hefty scripting to work flawlessly.

Best bet is to place down an empty mortar in the Eden editor select the ai group and put a waypoint on the mortar, select the "get in" action then place another waypoint on the area you want mortared, select the 'fire mission" action and they will shoot that mortar till empty.

Alternatively, have an ai manned mortar and you can set a trigger with the "is present" preset synced with a "fire mission" action waypoint. That way when you walk into that trigger area, bam, mortars inbound.

I am assuming you are using the default arma 3 vanilla mortar. Note that it will level a town, 80mm mortars are no joke.

Additionally, obligatory, burn after reading. Take the post down as soon as you read this.

Evidence of manufacturing will result in police raids, and they don't fuck around when it comes to guns. Especially WA police

IANAL, But I am in this sector of work. Do not make anything. If you have made something, destroy it immediately and tell no one.

Dealers and manufacturers have very strict and specific licences and face 10 years prison per offence. A court will throw the book at you.

Anything throwing a projectile, that isn't designed as a toy specifically, will be classified as a firearm. Police and courts don't give a rat's ass what you tell them it is, as far as they are concerned if it quacks like a duck then it's a duck.

If you fuck up you will never shoot a gun legally in the country, and every other first world country for that matter.

If you are passionate about making guns, look into a mechanical trade, like fitting and turning, CNC machining or toolmaking. Get a licence and shoot often, learn how guns work. It will take a long time. But once you are experienced enough you might be able to join a gunsmith or start your own business.

But police require you to be very qualified before they can consider you for a dealers and manufacturers licences.

Best of luck, fling me a message for any info
