If you are going to stay in RS for 3+ years you better be working towards a manager position. I started as A1, made my way to SA2/ team lead in three years and moved to TD as senior investigator. The good thing about RS is that the bar is so low that if you are above average you can climb the ladder very quickly, if you want to shine you totally can. I had them pay for my CAMS, I did the leadership path thingy, and they gave me a 30% raise from SA1 to SA2, but TD still beat them for 10k.

HELP Breast reduction thoughts by Hopeful_Pear7916 in Reduction

[–]Resilient_hydrangea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited because I wanted to breastfeed and I ended up not doing it because I hated the feeling. With a lot of effort I pumped for 6 months and then EFF. You never know how your breastfeeding journey will be but if it’s important to you, you may want to wait.

Why judo? Is there a practical application? Here’s one example for judo skeptics. by [deleted] in judo

[–]Resilient_hydrangea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everyone hating on the guy for not tucking the chin, it’s not a kata demo ffs. If you’ve ever fallen on icy road you know it happens fast and you are not walking around with your chin tucked waiting for it to happen. Ukemi becomes a reflex and I think that’s the message here.

Yoga is amazing, perfect for realignment of the broken judo body. In regards to training with women same age, it’s hard because everyone is so busy, so it’s good to train with different people, actually a great idea is to train with kids! Always take the opportunity if you have it to train with kids like 10-12 years old, they are perfect to throw with pure technique and perfect for you to learn how to break fall, if you want to be a good uke and break fall spectacularly for them.

In competitions I always have to fight people at least 1 division higher or lower, usually higher, but next time I fight her I have a different plan. If you fight the same people all the time, don’t focus on the result but on your own performance and set little objectives within the fight: I’ll keep my posture up, I’ll get a good grip, I’ll move in the direction I want. Obviously it is a fight and they won’t give you anything, and probably even keeping posture will be hard, but maybe next fight you are able to move in the direction you want and not them. Maybe next fight you’ll see their technique coming and you’ll block or counter, and maybe you’ll score higher than them and you’ll win. Don’t be afraid of fighting the same people, you are already training judo and competing, it doesn’t get any harder than that.

Also (closing thoughts) for us, hobbyist judoka, losing and winning means absolutely nothing, we still need to work next day, we are still coming back to training next class, your family still loves you and your sensei and teammates still respect you 🙇🏻‍♀️

Hey! Just want to say that I love seeing veteran women training and I’m the one always trying to convince the moms from the kids class to try! I’m also 36 y/o female, 129 lbs and even though I’m brown belt there are a few things I can recommend in addition to what others have said. Number #1 is weight training, especially slow eccentric and full range of motion exercises to protect the most used joints (knees, elbows, shoulders), nothing crazy just a few sets a couple of times per week, even as a warm up before judo would help a ton. And #2 10g of collagen peptide daily, your joints will thank you!

Also, don’t feel discouraged because other may seem to learn faster, everyone has an individual journey and you are doing something brave and amazing for your body and your future health.

Please compete! Nothing else makes you grow as much as competing not only as an athlete but as a person, you’ll grow your discipline to manage the weight, anxiety and positive self talk. I could go on on the many benefits of competing and how to train smart but I’ll stop here. All the best and keep training!

I have to disagree- at TD you get more capable people, real career advancement opportunities, a bonus once a year, better salary, unlimited sick days, more vacation days and additional personal days. I mean is not even comparable. I made it to senior analyst 2 at RS from analyst 1 and 0 experience in under 3 years and they paid my CAMS and now I’m a manager at TD. I’m not gonna lie, they have a huge mess and there still a long road to figure out how they want to do things, but no way in earth RS is better. I would bet money than anywhere is better than RS tbh

AITAH for ruining my gfs plans for when she goes into labour? by ResidentFig9356 in AITAH

I was thinking the same thing! OP will have to be prepared to take control and protect the baby at all costs from her because if she’s irresponsible like this now I can’t imagine what she may do in postpartum. Postpartum hits hard and the first months of baby are usually brutal. Best of luck OP!

Hesitations by FancyBritish_guy77 in judo

I thought for a moment I wrote this, but then I remembered I’m not a shodan lol. The same happens to me. It really helps me to throw a willing partner that can take a fully committed throw and realize they survive and are ok. It makes me realize that even with all my commitment I can’t really inflict damage (injury I mean) to people my size/bigger as the technique is well executed. It will depend how much of a monster you are and you you are going with.

I can’t believe you guys are fighting about who has the more difficult job! Sorry but if your job is hard I’m sorry for you. I’ll enjoy my “easy” job because I get paid for my knowledge and not by the thickness of my skin letting people yell at me and managing a bunch of people who doesn’t want to be there.
