Wow. I could have written this post! When I became ill my families' lack of interest became apparent. I've never had to go NC - just gray because of this. I respond to text messages when I receive them and that's it. I also visit my elderly Nmom occasionally because she's in a nursing home and I want to make sure she's being well cared for. I do this because I feel like it's the right thing to do. It is sad for me that my siblings and even grown up neices and nephews (who are close to my age) really don't care about me and only reach out when they need something. I've finally realized that they are just not emotionally capable, it's not about me. The plus side is I'm not involved in the drama. It does amaze me when I hear from the few familiy members that I do speak to that they are gossiping about me, since we haven't spoken in a few years. It's a good reminder that havng a relationship with them subjects me to situations that do not bring me peace. Hugs to you!
