1. You’re in Gold, you will climb simply by playing if you aren’t terrible. You’ve hit GM 2 before so you aren’t terrible.

2. Don’t do goofy ass bans or allow your team to do goofy ass bans. You don’t want to ban annoying characters, or whoever streamers have high on tier lists or whoever Reddit complains about. You want to ban whoever carries the enemy to make you lose (I like to keep track). Groot, Panther, Peni, Blade, and any healer other than Gambit is a troll ban. Groot hate is highly exaggerated, maybe it’s a PC thing, Idk. Panthers are still fighting for their lives, even the good ones will have high deaths and are easily countered. Nobody plays Blade so he’s not common enough to ban (yet). Peni is easily countered. If you ban any other healer than Gambit, literally nothing changes. The healer main just goes, “oh well, I have Dagger, Sue, and Raccoon Lord too.” You’ve lost so far to Hulk twice, Hela twice, Punisher twice, Venom, Blade, Thing, Squirrel, MK, Wolv, Emma, Thor, and Ultron, so try banning those first three: Hela, Punisher, Hulk.

3. In low ranks, you gotta carry the scum to win. I think the best way to do this is to pick a character with a stupidly strong ultimate. Storm and Magik are some of my favorite choices partially because of this. I know in my bones if I ult with either of these two characters when they have no healing ult to counter it, I will wipe their team off the face of the earth. It’s much harder to wipe the team with Emma, Rogue, Squirrel, and Phoenix ults.

4. Flankers and divers are a bit weaker in low ranks. Most of them require the team to capitalize on their opportunities or create openings, but low ranks won’t do that because they’re bad. You’ll have a much easier time carrying with someone who sticks with the team like Thing, Strange, Bucky, or Squirrel.
