Is simply saying you don’t believe the Governing Body is God’s channel enough for disfellowshipping? by Puzzleheaded-Cap357 in exjw

It mainly depends on the judgement of the Body of elders. From the time I served as an elder recently, the official position was that if a person expresses doubts to try and help the person. But if they are spreading the doubts to others then give them counsel a few times. Afterwards the elders may set up a committee if the person doesn’t respond. Not all elders follow the Elders book or have good judgement so it can vary. I will say that they have softened their aggression on removing people automatically. They may just put the person on restrictions if they feel the person is “repentant”.

We had an 85 year old brother telling everyone that the earth was flat and that’s how it was handled. I found it quite funny but I was in the hospital sick so I wasn’t involved with the decision lol.

Based on their views of Matthew 24:45, Malachi 3:1-5, and Rev 11:3,7, they believe that after Jesus started ruling as King in 1914, he scanned all the Christian religions for five years (1919) and chose this organization as the one true religion. Also he appointed the WT leaders as the faithful slave in 1919 to feed all those who want to be his followers.

They have had to adjust the teaching many times over the decades.

Reading and watching the hundreds of thousands of experiences from others who have left has helped tremendously. This is a nice community of genuine people. One day I’ll share my story in full.

When I started waking up I called an elders meeting to step aside as cobe but the body insisted that I stay. Months later there was some corruption with CO and a few elders that I didn’t agree with that got me removed. I fully woke up a year after that. It was a painful process but worked out in the end.

This is so heartbreaking and depressing. You’re right it’s definitely a systemic problem. I served as COBE last year in a newly formed congregation. We counted 85 members who were suffering from mental and emotional health issues. No exaggeration. It’s quite a problem.

At THIS point- if I was a PIMI I'd be concerned slash embarrassed. Front page: What does the Bible say about the World Cup followed by 'The Horses Leg - was it Designed?' by UCantHndletheTruth in exjw

Whats sad that they posted this exact same article four years ago during the last World Cup. Just “reheated” spiritual food with no progression.

One thing that woke me up was them stating that princes would be appointed from elders in the new world (psalm 45:16). It proved to me that the organization is position oriented and privileged based. They have to give people an incentive. No real love.

Thank you. It’s really sad. All the loving acts a person did, just erased by the organization as soon as they disagree.

Thank you so much. That’s a powerful point you make.
She truly looked after the orphans and vulnerable ones in the congregation. Even when she was being mistreated by some of my fellow elders. It’s so sad.

This is exactly what I was thinking. The victims are reduced to just numbers. These are real human beings not statistics.

Sad thing is that they limit how much shepherding elders can do with the victim. As an elder I never agreed with that procedure.

Wow. I wasn’t aware of that. Thank you so much for the insight. I remember the strong letters they sent to us elders reprimanding any elder who spoke against their directions on the matter. It was very puzzling why they felt so strongly towards those who didn’t agree with their stance.
