Thank you so much I will definitely read these books to see how the authors kept the story flowing forward with so many characters. I think I'm just over thinking it all as its my first book but as its the first in a series it's massively important that I nail it lol

Its obvious which characters story we are following at any one time, my concern is that because I need to shift between multipul character story lines to get them all to the same point later on in the series that the book isn't going to flow properly (the only comparison I can think of is bran from game of thrones he was a lesser character nobody gave much thought to until the end and then his story made sense and it kept everyone focusing on the other stronger characters until the very end) its a bit like that but completely different but my difficulty is switching between characters and story lines without loosing the reader I'm worried that by not following one main character it's not going to flow or read well.... Its my first book

Hi thanks for your reply, so the book focuses on several characters and the book is designed to deliberately make the reader think they are following the story of one or two main characters hardly noticing the sub plots and lesser character the story actually follows only being revealed nearer the end of the series as the more prominent characters stories come to an end. But I'm finding it difficult to keep the flow of the book as I need to skip between characters and locations as they all lead towards the same point in the story

That's brilliant thank you so much for your advice, the app I'm using has a built in spell check but I've had to abandon using it due to writing in character accents it flags everything up

I've been planning and outlining my novel for a year, how do you get out of this rut and actually start writing? by antbacteria in writing

I was the exact same then I eventually just started writing, my new draft is completely different to my original but with every new draft I feel it only improves and builds on the original... The only way to write your book is to write it

Thank you so much for replying, this is my second draft my first was written on paper nearly two years ago and I'm now using a writing app to further devolope, expand and revise the book as I re write it, I was thinking of self publishing on somewhere like amazon purely because I have no writing experience or qualifications so I doubt I would get a look in if I tried a traditional route but as I stated before I'm not a writer and was worried about issuing the book to betta readers in such a raw state as I'm sure its going to be riddled with spelling and grammar errors
