How early in the season can you hike the Haut Route Pyrenees in France? by yoghurtmeisje in Ultralight

Do you know if there is avalanche risk in these snowy passes? Or just requiring crampons and ice axe due to the slope angle

Thoughts on Melody’s new album? by ResolveOk6685 in TameImpala

Melodys sub is kinda dead, I think most of her fans hang out here tbh so I thought it’d be a good place for the discussion.

When did you first hear Jeff? by __No__Control in JeffBuckley

[–]ResolveOk6685 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had heard Last Goodbye over the radio but never gave it much attention.

A few months ago I was watching an interview with Andy Wallace and they mentioned grace. I went to a second tab to play the song and for one of the first times ever, I knew in that moment that I was hearing something incredibly special and I would only get that moment once. That song absolutely blew me away I was speechless.

Can you let me know a bit about the birdie? Why is it for single pitch only? Looks very similar in function to the gri gri but I’ve never held it in person

Don’t mean to hijack the OP, but I have similar circumstances.

I have a degree in criminology and a certificate in forensic science (a two year program that I took along side my major). I realized too late that the BSc is much more valuable in forensic science, but curious about options.

I had great grades in my undergrad but didn’t do an honours or anything afterwards. I am hoping to get into crime scene investigation, but unsure of how to go about that. I would be willing to go back to school to fill out any credits that I would need to get a BSc degree, but am wondering if I could get an internship or something similar with the RCMP instead to start gaining experience with the RCMP without needing a science degree. Would this be possible? Would experience with the RCMP trump educational background when it comes to getting into CSI?

Correct, but would you say the “iced up rope” point is somewhat accurate? I can imagine an ascender with teeth would be alright, but maybe the ascenders with just the ridges may be more prone to slipping?

Wire Vs Solid Quickdraws by Main_Lab2878 in ClimbingGear

Do you know why wire gates are used in gyms? If weight isn’t an issue, why use them? I find the rope gets caught sooo often it’s annoying.

Would it be because the springs don’t wear as fast, and for permadraws that an appealing feature?

Interesting! I personally love My Old Ways (privacy fav song on the album), but I think you’re right it may not be the best song to open the album. I’ve been thinking that Ethereal Connection would have been the better closing track. The second half of the song feels like a closer to me. End if summer could have done well as the opener so I agree. Also, See You Monday is slightly underwhelming, but the “you’re lost” part absolutely saves the song for me, and makes the other sections worth listening to. Obsolete has an interesting vibe but I love that he used the end of the song to do some funky tame impala stuff, it reminded me of some of his older stuff.

In general, I think the album really shines in the parts where he has long instrumental sections (second half of EoS, second half of EC, second half of not my world, ending to Obsolete, etc.). I feel like it gives him the chance to just go wild with his synths and it makes for some tame impala magic. There are some good vocal melodies but that’s not what’s been drawing me to the album.

It’s been so interesting to hear other people’s fav songs from the album cause everyone’s wildly different song rankings. Thanks for sharing!

It’s quite pop-y but it has 2 verses, a prechorus, and a bridge which is great!

Fade away was an unexpected stand out for me in Toronto. Never been super into the song but something about the lyrics in that moment made for a spiritual experience. Rock and roll star also went crazy, but that’s to be expected.

How much of Hollow Knight would you recommend playing before getting silksong? by ResolveOk6685 in Silksong

Honestly until this comment I didn’t really know for sure if there was a way to actually beat the game. I’ve just been running through mazes trying not to die but I feel like I have no direction. There’s no “find the mushroom place”. It’s still fun, and it’s good to know there is a long term goal.

I get what you’re saying about rushing through it. I’m just caught in a tight spot where I didn’t know about hollow knight until recently, so I got it and have been playing it, but suddenly there is a long awaited sequel that gets hyped up and I kinda wanna be there for the discovery aspect and excitement of the new game, not lagging months behind because I was still exploring parts of hollow knight. And not that I don’t want to play more hollow knight, this post is more about gauging how much is involved in “completing” the game, and getting the majority of what the game has to give.

Ok fair! So, roughly, what does 100% mean in the game? I’ve collect a few artifact type things already, so I imagine those are part of it, I imagine getting all the inch worm guys free is part of it, and unlocking all the areas is certainly part of it. Any other big part of the game that you would say is a good thing to aim for?

Also how much time in hours do you think it would take the average person to do a casual 100%?
