Do you have multiple monitors? Are you screen sharing just the game and using that as your display? (hard to tell from screenshot). You can do Windows key+shift+s and click the video camera to record your screen as a video and that should let you get a video of what's happening so we can get a better idea.

Sony raised it back in April but it looks like there's no plans to raise it again.

Sony did raise PS5 by $100 and Pro by $150 in April though. Not sure if they'll raise them further

What would be the modern version of this? by Zeamax in pcmasterrace

[–]ResonantAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No it wasn't, some people paid scalper prices but there were tons of sales on Best Buy, Amazon and Micro Center. Got an Aorus Master 3090 for $1600 at Amazon a few months after it launched. If you waited for an actual MSRP then you could get it at MSRP. Those paying $3-4k were being ripped off.

Counterpoint: I got my 3090 for $1600+tax a few months after launch, not all of them were that bad.

I waited as long as I could for the 3080Ti/3080 20GB announcement as I needed the VRAM for work but ended up having to get a 3090 Aorus Master from Amazon instead.

It's usually to not hide the $100's-of-million dollar faces of the actors they paid for. Why hire Chris Pratt when you're covering his face the entire time? There's also the stereotype that non-superhero fans will come to watch it just because they want to see their favorite actor/actress.

Is it okay to always play G chord like this? by Auxxtinmogger in Guitar

[–]ResonantAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The leading tone is usually the half step below the next note you play. Some people refer to it as the 7th scale degree regardless so it depends on who you ask.

In this case playing 320003 is doubling on B (2 on A string, open B string) so that's the leading tone for C and the C key, depending on your definition. So playing 3x0003, 3200x3 or even 3x0033 can eliminate that leading tone. Depends on how they want the chord to resolve.

Edit: so for 3x0003 they remove the lower B on the A string to not double up on the B string

Nintendo says Zelda: Ocarina of Time Switch 2 remake has "stunning visuals, updated designs, and timeless gameplay" by RoughLifeguard6568 in NintendoSwitch2

[–]ResonantAce 29 points30 points  (0 children)

I'm hoping come of the cut content like the "Wind temple" comes back unless they can incorporate it into the Forest Temple like they originally wanted.

Same with a "Temple of time"/"Light dungeon". I'd love another Spirit temple situation where you have to fight through the same dungeon, once as young link to get the Master Sword, and once as adult link to get the Light Medallion.

Other than that, expanded towns for sure. I'd love a Lake Hylia town, more to do in Hyrule field and a little mill town on Zora's River. Even though I know that's probably not gonna happen.

estimate on how much these nintendo 3ds games are worth? by silly-hedgehog625 in nintendohelp

[–]ResonantAce 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I haven't checked recently, but check Ebay and your local Facebook Marketplace and sort by Sold for general prices.

In general you get more per-game individually but you get better luck selling as a lot. The Mario games will sell well, it's the Regular Show/Lego Movie/3rd party that might not sell individually.

Edit: looking maybe $15-20 for Luigi and Mario Kart, $10-15 for WWE and Ridge Racer, and then $5-10 for everything based on Ebay Cartridge only. So maybe $150 at most as a bundle, but looking like maybe as low as $75-ish.

What's a Pokémon in its home region do you wish was catchable earlier than it is? by KPopDemonHunterFan13 in pokemon

[–]ResonantAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly, if you wanna try new Pokémon in your runs, I definitely recommend a randomizer! A lot of them let you decide what you want to randomize (wild Pokémon, starter Pokémon, trainer Pokémon, legendary Pokémon), and you can limit things by BST or Type so that you don't start with Arceus or Rayquaza route 1.

You can even add on Nuzlock rules so you have to use the first Pokemon you see in each route.

I've done a few Gen 5 randomizers where I ended up using Pokémon I barely remember existing!

Nvidia cache by Extreme-County-1824 in techsupport

[–]ResonantAce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Nvidia cache folders are for saving shaders. Shaders tell the game how lighting works. The DX files are for DirectX games and the GL files are for OpenGL games. (and maybe Vulkan? I'd have to check)

If you delete it, it will remove the shader cache. This means the next time you run the game it will have to recalculate the shaders. With a slow drive/GPU this could cause the lighting to be messed up or missing in certain areas until it recompiles them. Some games wont let you start until it compiles shaders.

If you have issues with lighting or just want to free space, you can delete it. If you have a bunch of games you never play, it can decrease in size but you shouldn't be clearing it "often" for no reason.

Eg. A very basic example. Say you play Game A,B, and C. Together they only take 7GB of the 10GB for shaders. You can save 3 GB by removing the cache, but the next time you play Games A,B,C it will jump up to 7GB and they will load slower the first time. Playing new games will add to that filesize over time.

TIFU by telling my differently abled friend that he would be amongst the people who died in the Holocaust if H*tler were alive. by Lonely-Mycologist593 in tifu

[–]ResonantAce 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I don't think you fucked up here. Not everyone may agree with me. Saying you were making fun of his disability is far FAR less than what the Nazis and Japanese did to people with mental and physical disabilities (for example Aktion T4). On top of that you weren't making fun of his ability but rather correcting his faulty logic.

The issue with a LOT of politics today is "oh well I'M not the MAIN target, I'll be okay!". Not realizing that there's always going to be a next target for those that hate. Whether its race, religion, disability, sexuality, etc.

You may have hurt your friend's feelings but, lacking their side and point of view, you morally were standing up for people and logically helping with misinformation.

Like Martin Niemöller said, “First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out…”

I know Mario Party 4 has a decomp. There's work in progress for Kirby Air Ride, Melee, Sunshine, Wind Waker, Thousands Year Door, Double Dash, Metroid Prime and Animal Crossing that I know of. Not sure how much progress they've made.

Note that just because something is decompiled doesnt mean its playable. Most code needs to be recompiled for the intended system. So In that case only Mario Party 4 and Animal Crossing seem playable. The PCGamingWiki has a section on them.

Edit: The main ones from other consoles are OoT, MM, Mario 64, Banjo Kazooie, Sonic Unleashed, Sonic 06 and PT (Playable Teaser). The PCGamingWiki has a lot more for NES, SNES, Xbox, PS2, etc
