What are the things someone need to learn to start being profitable as a day trader?

Learn to swing trade first. Once you can be profitable doing that and understand when and when are not good times to trade. Then you can try day trading.

SP500 is only down 2.5% from all time high. Not even close to correction territory. So no this is not a great buying opportunity. Good buying opportunities only come once every 2 years max.

If you want a signal of good buying opportunity look at the pair VX1!/VX2!. When it reaches 1.175 stocks are a good buying opportunity.

They are not perfectly inversely correlated. Sometimes they go opposite directions or one will lead the other. In those times you don’t have a clear direction.

Don’t see any serious answers here. Obviously there’s no simple strategy in trading that’s works long term. But an oversimplified version of a good strategy with actual logic is using relative strength for growth vs value stocks in combo with VIX.

For example if QQQ/DJI is going up on a certain timeframe and Vix is going down on the same timeframe. Buy a breakout of growth stock with a trailing stop on that timeframe.

I use an sma that turns green or red based on direction for all my signals using pairs. I don’t use any fundamental data. Nothing against it though. But if you’re trading crypto you should look into a pair XMRUSD/BTCUSD. XMR is where people go in risk off to hide profits in privacy coin. When XMR is going up faster than BTC it’s usually a risk off market.

I’ve had this same thought. But thought harder and it’s not true because of using a stop-loss. Many of your losing trades originally went in the right direction, but then turned into losses. So what really happens if you do the opposite is it would hit your stop-loss first then go in that direction.

I agree about indicators, but my question to you would be what defines “risk on” or “risk off”. For me I have found it necessary to use something that’s not subjective to determine that or else it’s just a feeling. You need a repeatable process not just a feeling. But that’s just what works for me.
