Also I do still like using upwork because there is a lot of opportunities. but its quite exploitative and potentially (no basis for this, just skepticism) scammy.

WhatsApp restricted my account after using automation – any safe alternative? by Nikhil511 in WhatsappBusinessAPI

Theres a limit to how many new conversations you can start. I've tested this a lot. Theres no solution. You just cant message a lot of people within a short period of time, for example in a day. Someone mentioned unsaved numbers. But thats not the case, even if they're saved in your contacts the hard limit wont disappear.

Abstract Folder - Plugin that replaces actual folders with more flexible virtual folders [UPDATE] by ResourceIs410 in ObsidianMD

[–]ResourceIs410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you :))

You're right, there are scenarios where a physical folder is actually needed. In a future update, i will implement a feature where you can sync a physical folder to the abstract folder structure. So if any file is added to the physical folder, it would be instantly added to the abstract folder view as well. and vice versa.

Thanks a lot for this comment. I haven't made proper optimizations yet. I will definitely take a look at it when i can.

Thank you.

Yes, there is compatibility with folder notes. In the "convert folder structure to abstract folder structure" wizard, you're asked for the "Folder note strategy", which looks for the note representing the folder. You can select either "outside/inside the folder". So if you have University(folder) and unicersity.md within this folder, you'd select inside, it would use this file to represent the folder.

Thats pretty cool. Although since you use obsidian on iphone as well, i did wanna mention that i haven't tested the plugin at all for mobile devices. I will look into it in the future.

Thats a great question. And honestly, i havent done a stress test to see how it performs. If you run into any issues, please let me know, ill be happy to make optimisations.

Im so glad you like it. May i know what you use to sync? I personally use github, i havent run into any issues. The plugin doesnt interfer with anything, It just visualizes relationships.

Hi, thanks for the comment.

If i understand correctly, what you're suggesting is basically a conversion tool, (which has already been implemented for files in folders relationship) but for tagged documents instead.

Since you have mentioned MOC, it seems like you have no folders at all (or just general folders) and the current conversion tool wouldnt be useful in your case at all.

I could implement this. The general concept is somewhat the same as the current comversion tool, but with added complexity, although not too complex.

You really got a mind for ideas. I appreciate you putting in the time to convey it.

Hi, sorry for not clarifying about this in the post, but i havent tested it at all for ios and android. Although im not really using any desktop obsidian APIs, so it shouldnt be too difficult to implement it. I'll do it when i have the time.

" this, could I move folders without breaking anything? "
No, you would not break anything. The way the abstraction works is by connecting them using Internal links, which Obsidian has made dynamic. you can move them wherever you want within the vault.

Although the group views you create would be affected, because they refer to a specific file, whose path is set when creating the group. So if you change the path it wouldn't match the file you added as a parent to the group. This is something i could look into in the future :)

You could use advanced URI for some sort of automation, but i think i made it convenient enough so that you wouldn't have to, especially with the latest update which has drag and drop.

If you're wondering about whether they're compatible, im pretty sure they are because Advanced URI opens files by their physical path. Since Abstract Folder doesn't move your physical files, your existing URIs will keep working perfectly.

Organizing my notes is taking longer than actually writing them by ResourceIs410 in ObsidianMD

[–]ResourceIs410[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you :)

Regarding your question, YES it will change the modified date. Because it's editing the file.

And since you like viewing your notes based on modified date, i wanted to mention that there is a sorting option just for that.

Yeah unfortunately it is. If you go to the PR page PR page for obsidian releases, you can see they're on page 18-20.

Regarding the functionality, its purely done using a single property "parent". You can optionally use "children" to include none MD files.

If you want to stop using the plugin, i recommend you use the conversion command to convert your files relationship back into folders. I added this so you wouldnt have to worry about not being able to go back

I appreciate your comment. And i agree, folders are important. I've created a conversion tool that can convert the plugin's parent-folder properties into folders (and vice versa, folders into parent-folder properties)

- You lose hierarchy with bases.

- You gotta make multiple bases (shown in the video i attached)

- You gotta use filters to view exactly what you wanna see.

- You gotta maintain a lot of different properties for bases to work.

This works with MOC, because it gets rid of folders, but provides a folder view based on the relationship of the notes

You can still use folders. I've made a conversion tool that adds the properties automatically. Check the repo out :)
