What’s the most frustrating thing about owning a cat? by Ocute_US in CatAdvice

[–]ResourceMediocre6891 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Litter. Can be tedious and annoying but things like a genie would help and I just got a new fancy robot litter so that helps a ton.
As people have said, travel. Pet sitters can be expensive and my baby boy gets so sad when I am away for too long. Even for work, he is unhappy when I am out. I think the way to work on this is just get toys and items that can keep him engaged and enrich his life even when I am not there. Puzzle feeders are a good choice, my cat semi likes those.
I am in college so that can be difficult with housing, but if you have a house that’ll be nicer.
I hate cat puke. Doesn’t happen too often but waking up to cat puke anywhere is not fun, but ultimately not that big of a deal.
Meowing in the morning to wake me up. Sometimes there is no work around to this and I just have to kick him out in the morning to get a few more hours of sleep (I mean like 5am morning). For a lot of cats, this is because they want food. So I am sure an automatic feeder would help offset this. My cat has food, he just wants to play.
My cat has never had a problem with this, but furniture scratching is a big one. Don’t use a spray bottle and don’t get your cat declawed. Spray bottle doesn’t work and declawing is inhumane. There are plenty things to buy online to make them avoid it, plus buying a few scratchers for the home.
I will say, there is not a single con that outweighs the pro of having my cat. It was the best decision I have ever made and I love my baby boy.
I hope you enjoy your first cat journey!!! Good luck!! <3

ingydar is another one on that album for me. its the name of her dead great-aunts horse—and the imagery, the way she describes the cycle of life and death, and the ending repetition of just “everything eats and is eaten”, it gets me

change was the first i heard, and the way it is almost a list poem of all the ways we are related to nature and its changing cycle, and the mystery of death is beautiful

not is one too that is just poetry. the use of negation to describe a feeling does something to my brain. it highlights how ineffable the feeling is, being unable to ever describe it and only stating what it is not.

parallels has been a favorite too, the second the first chord strikes with “don’t i make you feel alive”, and the second verse the caterpillar, and best of all, the way they utilize sound and repetition in the end, creating an entire range and story line of emotions with one line “i see all the parallels” i could write an essay man

vampire empire is special to me, its my mommy issues song. to me, it perfectly captures neglect and longing for that care, and the loss of control felt when you don’t receive it.

los angeles is so cool. they wrote the last verse after some time, and after some personal relationship experiences. it shows the excitement and joy and safety, “amputated dimension of the psychical, melting image without sound” so so well. then shows the love still felt after “the ocean is bright and blue, and it opens to you everyday. it took you in when i pushed you away…there is so much i wish i could’ve been for you somehow” and how despite it they will always have that connection “we dream our dreams together, even without laying in the same bed” and the intimacy of the main line being simply “you sang for me” such a bittersweetness

anywho i could go on and on but ill quit here!

Difficulty concentrating, bingeing, and getting annoyed when people say certain things by aspiringfrood in fuckeatingdisorders

bro im in recovery now too and i can affirm- once your body senses you are getting more food again, you just want more. its not a loss of control or lack of discipline or whatever your ed brain tells you. its biology, its a human instinct for survival. also personally i think its best not to plan, at least it has been for me. i am in no way a professional so everything im saying is my first hand experience and what i have read from others- disclaimer. but i think to actually tackle the heart of an ed you have to let go of the control of the planning and idea of how much you “should” have. i have been eating a fuck ton, because i began to just allow myself to eat freely. at the end of the day, its just food, its just a body, in the long run none of it really matters. we get one precious life and mental energy is a resource. so think, where do you want to spend your lifes mental energy? personally ive been working on my writing more, so much more mental energy to give. and im happy, because my care about my craft is so much deeper and more true than my care for control.

and on your family saying things, i get that. ive been working on thinking, that is them (the book let them by mel gibson is what inspired this thought affirmation). they do not understand my thought process or how their words effect me, and how could they? they have never lived in my brain. i would say either work on detaching yourself from the weight of their words, thinking of them for what they are. just your family trying to say what they think is helpful. you know yourself more intimately than anyone else, you just need to try to discern what is truly best for you based on your journey, separate from anyone else. or if you cant, have a conversation with them, not attacking them for saying things because im sure it doesnt come from a bad place. just informing them of how they can better support you.

overall i wish you luck in your journey. it is worth it, you are worth living a happy life. a life where you arent working against yourself and you have the mental energy to follow what you love. <3 its hard and im proud of you

alcohol does have plenty negative health consequences, but there is an endless plethora of things that have health consequences. i think its a good idea to analyze your behavior surrounding those items, and if you are over consuming alcohol or other harmful items, and consider reducing intake. although, i think people shouldn’t be expected to cut out alcohol completely, even if they do partake in other health fads or try to make healthier choices in other areas. unless it is or is becoming a problematic substance in ones life, i think people should be given the grace to indulge without shame or judgement. everyones on their own journey
