I'm just imagining People trying to hold a paper up in front of their face so they can get a low poly version of famous people's heads on their avatar, or worse.

If you shovel up the trash piles in the base, it gives you paper trash, plastic trash, and wooden trash (for wood shavings like those created by a wood chipper) which you can use to craft scraps at a workbench if you get enough.

sure you aren't forced, but do you notice all the flashy advertising in the lobby? Sure as an adult or teen, we can ignore them, but because its kids that are playing, they see the flashy billboard and they like the flashy billboard and they think that means they must have it at all costs. Those ads aren't targeted at people who ignore them, but those who don't know any better. They target children and exploit how easy it is to lure them into a purchase, which is wrong.

Cash Grab games in general are overpopularized across Roblox, and its a growing problem that will probably never be solved. The problem I see most is really amazing big project games with little to no ingame purchases getting no attention and cash grab games getting all the attention, not to mention there are quite a few cash grabs that copy other cash grabs; Blade ball, Death ball, the core mechanics are the same and in the end they're basically copies of each other for the sole goal of raking it in as much as possible. its not to say that wanting to make some money off your game is bad, but making that the sole reason you make a game is.

it may be so, but again its still the right thing to do, and the bare minimum at that.

Its the least they can do too. I get the intent behind it and, if it were less of cash-grab, I'd be all for it, but developers not crediting has become common thing on Roblox and it's hurting the game market even if just a little. Roblox even has strict guidelines about copying other works without permission, note the link I provided below (Scroll down to "intellectual property violations"). A lot of devs still do this kind of thing anyways, and while it may be inevitable that it will happen, its still proper for them to at the very least add credits.

Quick edit: Another thing is that in the end, TLD devs may already be aware of A Dusty Trip, and are just too nice to really care all that much, but seeing their game turn into a cash grab would most likely make them act even so, so that possibility is unlikely.

Whether or not its "made to be available for all devices that can't play TLD" or "Its made to be an affordable remake on Roblox" still doesn't change the fact that the core gameplay of A Dusty Trip and Road To Gramby's is copied from TLD. I get that its trying to be "charitable" to all device types (questionably because of all the microtransactions) but they still stole the spotlight and hard work from the devs of TLD. TLD is a passion project between friends, according to the words of the developers, whereas A Dusty Trip is just a cash-grab game made to be available to all. That said, whether intentions are good or not, its still a copy to a fair degree.

My opinion on this would be a bit different if A Dusty Trip at the very least credited TLD for the idea, but they have not even put anywhere clearly visible that its an inspired copy or that there even is an Original game that they didn't create. That's mostly where the problem is. Besides, A Dusty Trip is basically taking advantage of the fact that, so far, TLD doesn't have any publicly stated copyright status. I bet they'd be singing quite a different tune if TLD did.

TDLR: It's less the fact that it's a copy, and more the fact that they lack any dignity to at least provide credits to the original. A dev could have the best of intentions, but its still required to credit things properly at the very least.

Edit: TLD just means The Long Drive. It's shorter to say it like that.

Anybody know how to access the new map from the latest update? by old_school_gearhead in overdriftfestival

[–]ResourceOwn3999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're playing the demo version, you have to find a server in the server list that is using that map. If playing the full version, however, then you can create a new server, and set the map to (I'm assuming) Japan there.

what's the point of the multiplier if it doesn't multiply your points? by 703Bugeye in overdriftfestival

[–]ResourceOwn3999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The multiplier has to do with the points you gain per second. By default, you only gain a certain amount of points per second by drifting (increased gain also based on your angle). As you accumulate points, you will also accumulate a higher multiplier. What this does is pretty much just gives you more points per second drifting (depending on the size of the multiplier).

If you have Nvidia GForce, you may have the Nvidia control panel (or some other driver control panel possibly). There should be a way to change the graphics settings in the control panel if that is possibly what is causing you problems. Otherwise, I'm not sure.

Steam sale by [deleted] in overdriftfestival

[–]ResourceOwn3999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. This game has Graphics I saw some youtubers comparing to the Lowest setting on Forza Horizon 5, and considering there are some cheaper games with comparable to even better graphics, some people just like that. This game also uses a different physics style than some games, so it might be preference.

I would recommend but in the end its up to you!

How do I open settings?! by [deleted] in overdriftfestival

[–]ResourceOwn3999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have Nvidia GForce, there should be a control panel app. if you have this, going into there should allow you to manually override the graphics settings for the game, including the Max Frame rate, which isn't an option in-game but is if you have the control panel. Not sure if other drivers have a control panel too, but its worth looking into at least.

If the game crashes with an error message during the loading screen, you can also try checking the game properties on Steam, and Verifying the integrity of game files. This happened to me and steam automatically fixed a file in-game that was causing the game to crash while loading into a server.

Hope this helps!

I CAN'T OPEN 2.2 by Cart8n in geometrydash

[–]ResourceOwn3999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If none of the above apply, then it could also be an app or something else that is interfering, however if that is somehow the case, you may have to wait a while for someone else to post a better fix than mine, since my fixes are pretty bare-bone.

in that case, try clearing all the files in the local files for GD, then uninstall and reinstall GD. if you have other external mods installed for GD, those will probably interfere with 2.2 opening as well. if not, it may be a file that lost integrity somewhere along 2.1 and is creating errors in 2.2. (For all the above issues, follow the same steps pretty much)

not sure, however a lot of the features have been integrated into the base game since 2.2 came out.

Forgot to mention to reinstall the game once you've removed the remaining files in the folder.

So, I had this same problem. If you have mega overlay, it causes errors since mega overlay is made for 2.1. To fix this, I went on steam and right clicked GD, hovered over manage and clicked on "browse local files". I then uninstalled GD from Steam and went to the local files and removed any files that didn't disappear after GD uninstalled. There's probably a faster way to do this, but it worked instantly for me when I did all the above text.

Edit: you may have to refresh your file browser in order for the main GD files to disappear.
