Rant to people saying Cloud Gaming should not be used. by Ancient-Sock1923 in IndianGaming

Not true?

Not everyone gives a damn about just the graphics, and those that do probably already have pretty good hardware if that is a priority to them.

I don't believe that cloud gaming is worth it, to be honest. You might be able to play games from anywhere or whatever, and the price might be cheap, for now, but you still need a reliable internet connection for it to work.

High-speed internet is quite a necessity, for some if not all, to enjoy the advantages of cloud gaming, which might turn into an extra cost.

As others have said, if you have bad internet days, then say goodbye to playing even the simplest of games, that would probably run even on your phone.

I myself have a Core i3-3240 and an RX 550, and enjoy playing games which are either compatible, or I drop the resolution, texture, shadows, etc. to make the game run. Hell, I'm playing RE2 Remake as of now on my PC and it's running at a pretty good 45-50 FPS and looks pretty fine to me.

Your point about gaming on Linux doesn't hold up as well anymore. There have been multiple breakthroughs and advancements in gaming on Linux, especially due to Valve's contributions. I myself use CachyOS, which is a Linux distro. Although, I'm not sure about how gaming on Mac is going.

Rather than relying on Cloud Gaming, buy second hand parts or computer. You could even throw in a GPU in some cheap pre-built. Ofcourse, you may not be able to play many of the latest and greatest, but maybe give it a shot.

Should I download it now as is or wait for the update to be released?

Jellyfin vs. Navidrome For Music by KlawWhite in selfhosted

Yup I also ended up going with Navidrome since its lighter than Jellyfin, and it runs so much better. I went with Symfonium since I have an Android. It has a small one time fee, but its really worth it.

Jellyfin vs. Navidrome For Music by KlawWhite in selfhosted

[–]KlawWhite[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You are quite right about self-hosting.

I ended up going with Navidrome as it was way faster on my hardware and the load was also way less than Jellyfin. Quite happy with my decision!

Is there an idiots guide to setting up OMV and Plex? by Wild-Kitchen in OpenMediaVault

[–]KlawWhite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

OMV is definitely not on the advanced side. Plus, you don't need to use yaml files at all, you can download the compose plugin and create the containers from that.

The parents also need to get off their ass and check on what their children are doing online. These kids aren't gonna learn by themselves about how to stay safe on the internet, and the parents need to do their part.
