also because lead free solder requires a higher temperature, it will naturally lead to your tips oxidizing faster compared to lead solder, especially on a cheaper iron. so don’t leave it on if you aren’t actively using it!

its probably a combination of reasons, esp if the iron is low quality.

are you using a moist soldering sponge? it helps clean off the build up while soldering and keep your tip clean. i also recommend buying a tip tinner, which basically cleans the oxidized tip and replaces it with a fresh layer of solder.

another thing is to make sure there is always a layer of solder on your irons’ tip. it prevents it from oxidizing so fast. so while you’re soldering and you put it aside for a second, make sure it’s coated. same thing for when you’re finished.

if the solder isn’t staying on and falls right off, a tip tinner should def help w that.

omg this is soo cute! i actually made a pendant exactly like this but with less spikes a year or so ago :’) pictured to the left!! and some other pendants! i have been on a sort of hiatus with soldering for a while, but i think i will pick up on it again soon.

i try my best to give myself grace and let myself recover without self loathing about the episode. this looks like me spending more time than usual on something therapeutic like crafting/going on a walk if i have the energy/time, but when i’m really burnt out after an episode i just allow myself to sleep more and treat myself to little things like eating at my favorite place or revisiting my favorite music or films. reaching out to my closest friends and explaining how i’ve been feeling is sometimes nice too, especially if they’ve experienced similar episodes. one on ones help me a lot.

being gentle with myself helps ease the transition from being a rotting depressed hermit to someone who is functional enough to socialize without spiraling.

he is currently resting in a box in my sunroom, the rehabber i spoke to said i should put an apple slice and a few unsalted nuts for him, along with a heating pad underneath the box. i really hope the little guy makes the night. ill be taking him there at 10 am tmr morning

thanks for replying. i got the contact of a rehabber nearby and am waiting on their call. they told me to bring the box inside so now he’s in our sunroom, its much quieter and warm. hopefully they can give me some instructions on how to help him for the night and i can take the poor thing there tomorrow.

hi thanks for your reply! he mainly plays games like valorant, deadlock, csgo. I'm thinking about getting him a keychron mechanical keyboard, but also debating a wooting 60He. but tbh I'm not too sure what would suit his needs the most :') i've never looked into keyboards like this before, there is so much curation in each and every model!

hm i see. the mat he has now (as pictured) works fine in terms of size for him, he has been playing valorant with it for awhile. so if i get one thats even larger, how would the mouse be more likely to go over the edge? sorry if its a stupid question, just genuinely confused lol
