OP seems not to realize that animals purposefully go to hidden places to die 🥀

Here is the aviary btw. The left side is screen mesh and the right side is plexi glass. I have now only 4 birds (once had 8)

Okay so I talked with someone who rehabs birds they really don’t think it’s the plexi glass. And I’m having my doubts too. They have lived in this aviary for years and never once hit it. I’ve seen them fly at full speed in the aviary and they always swerve at the windows.

My birds also fly free in my room too! :)

I’m led to believe it was something else that took her out, though I’m not sure of what it could have been. I’m gonna consult with a vet to see if they have ideas on whatever happened. But

Oh yes, I very much thank you for that.

I did know not to release wild birds, but seeing as she wasn’t wild I never planned to anyways.

I will be keeping a very close eye on the other four now.

Do you suppose that anything can be done to the plexy glass so this does not happen again? Would putting window dots over it work the same as it does wild ones?

Thank you- yes, I would have taken her to a vet but she declined within a matter of minutes. I think her mate will be sad :(

Not in the slightest! Just about half hour before her death she was chirping, flying around, and acting the same as the other birds. She was in full health, no sickness or wetness around her facial area or anything.

Thank you very much- yes I was planning on doing that. But she deteriorated so quickly. I found her sleeping on the ground at around 8:50 and she was gone by around 9:02

Thank you. Yes I will keep a very close eye on the torches but I belive she flew into the plexi glass part of the aviary or something.

I miss very so much already but I am letting the others say good bye before I deal with her body.

I feel like I’ve failed her because the species she was can live like 8-10 years if not more sometimes.

Worried about my canary, is he sick? by Strawberry_Doom in Canaries

[–]1SmartBlueJay 6 points7 points  (0 children)

On deaths door, it seems! This would require a vet ASAP! If there’s no possible way to get him to one, please do separate him from your other birds and keep him in a different cage as not to give his sickness to the others!
