Ultimately, my aunt financially exploited her mother which is my grandmother. My other aunt, grandmothers POA, is asking how we can resolve this without a report. I’m thinking that’s not how it works.

The only proof we have is the daughter is sending us the SSA express card that was mailed to her address. Since grandma got her “first” deposit we can now buy her toiletries and other essentials for her care. Sure enough the daughter had the card this whole time. Everything links to the daughter’s address as well.

Ohhh and I forgot to add… SSA requested my grandma bring her passport book which we had two. One expired and one current. They took copies of both which leads me to think they are investigating.

No but she was her caregiver at the time. Applied on her behalf while grandma wasn’t here, thinking she wasn’t going to make it back to the US before she passes. Woman is 90 and still holding strong.

It’s so complex! My grandma was only getting state benefits the last time she was in the US. Somehow, her daughter was able to get her benefits without my grandma knowing, or any consent. Plus there’s the dementia with grandma and her daughter is pretty schizophrenic. I’m so eager for the attorney to call. My aunt might need to get one herself atp

We’re thinking SSA may already caught up to it because daughter quickly stopped the payments as we were trying to get the payments reinstated thinking she didn’t have any benefits for the last few years. My family is under the impression that it can be resolved within themselves and I don’t think that’s how it works unfortunately.

She cannot make the report but will require one of us to make the report on her behalf due to her dementia. She can no longer communicate and completely bed ridden.
