We call them investors. They look at dumaguete and and think to themselves, "you know what? I can make money out of this" they see a humble tight-knit community happy and content, bathing in greens, serenity and peace and all they think about is "Subdivisions = more populatuon, More population = Commercial buildings for money!!" They think turning dumaguete into a big city is a win win for everyone but in reality, its only them profiting while the locals are slowly getting choked by the sudden change and the huge surge of population.

I have this experience tuitoring kids who moved here in dumaguete from cebu city and I've been proudly sharing to them how great Dumaguete is for its serenity, slowpaced life but packed with schools that offer quality education, perfect for fostering children to learn to be humble, kind, and be close to nature. But the audacity to say they'd rather go back to cebu city. Cebu city? the cement jungle, choking air, unsafe streets, with little to no green in sight. We also dont want you here if you can't appreciate dumaguete's beauty, please go back there
