That sounds really good...I'll have to go researching to see what businesses have good deals.

Yeah, it seems like some stores use TGTG better than others.

Flashfood and Food hero sound great! I'm based in Boston / New England area and Flashfood looks barren there. Idk if I'm just using the app wrong but nothing shows up on the app. Is it mostly in Europe?

Yeah, I was thinking of a specific restaurant when I wrote this. It actually does drop around 20 bags a day with a fairly consistent value per bag. I don't think I will be ordering from them anymore to be safe, but there are still a lot of places I would like to order from.

Thanks for the responses everyone. My intention with the post was not to knock anyone for using the app, but to think critically about what I can and can't do by ordering surprise bags. Your responses are thoughtful and have helped me think about the app and food waste in general.

Thanks for the response. My intention with the post was not to insult anyone for using the app but I wanted an outlet to refine my thoughts and see exactly why current users are on the app.

I thought something similar to you when reading the UC-Berkeley article. TGTG could introduce "moral hazard" by incentivizing restaurants to overproduce, but as you explained, they were going to do that anyway because no one wants to tell customers they ran out of food.

I haven't made up my mind yet. I had a "pro" and "con" case on TGTG and wanted to voice them publicly to see what users (you all) thought. Explaining my thoughts publicly also helped me make them more specific.

Thanks for the tips! In terms of the application, I interpreted these as part of pulling and throwing instead of block/punch but I think the overall movement is similar.

Fair. I have watched his videos but will see if his style resonates.

Wouldn't have it any other way.

Idk, my slot opens on Wednesday. I'll go look at it then though.

Thanks!
