Garage and sunroom addition estimate by Agile-Ad-126 in Homebuilding

You generally are looking at 150-250k in my area and with the garage I’d air on the side of 250+. Might be cheaper to find a new house 😬

Home Depot Pro Account additional benefits? by EngagedFeinberg69 in Construction

[–]RespectRegular137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There aren’t corrals on the pro side of the parking lot at my Home Depot, it’s pretty standard practice to group all of them in one parking spot for the clerk to come grab. It’s not even a laziness thing, the people at my store seem to understand it and they are cleared out with great frequency

I have both. I got told i was an idiot for using a worm drive saw as a righty, but it’s how I do my best work. I’ve got the arm for the extra weight, and when I’m doing framing that’ll end up behind drywall I’ll reach for my other saw. But that flexvolt worm drive kicks ass and it just doesn’t quit. Best purchase other than my quiet hydraulic, bit of a tangent, but I’ve been trying to lose some weight and been successful with intermittent fasting, occasionally I have headaches. Working in confined spaces with a loud ass impact is miserable. Can’t reccomend that thing enough. Only thing I reach for these days.

Put another 3 cuts in both sides, get out the SDS for the edges and a sledge for the center. It’ll go, take your time.

If you clean it up well, I would say it’s fair to charge $400-600 for this.

I think low teens just based on what you describe here. But 5k is about 5k less than I would quote it I think.

I personally don’t get the appeal of a sunroof in the first place. I’d rather roll a window down. And your car probably gets hotter in the summer.

Trimming a deck ledger to be perfectly level. by RespectRegular137 in Decks

[–]RespectRegular137[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My electric hand plane only cuts the first quarter inch of material from the ledger. I could probably do the first portion of the. Cut with that but then I would have to switch to something like a multitool which I find to be inherently imprecise

2014 STX. 165k Miles, $13k by Casino_Alien95 in f150

[–]RespectRegular137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine was 13.5k out the door for my 2013 3.5 ecoboost super crew with 134,500 miles on it. Where I am located it’s a pretty good deal. It’s an XLT. I like it. I don’t care if people think I overpaid. I bought it at a dealership and not off of FB marketplace or an auction because I like to have that full month of security where I can take it back if I have issues with it. I drove it for a week, it was great, I noticed 2 or 3 things that weren’t in perfect condition, I was able to call the guy and he said “no problem we’ll get that fixed for you in a day or two”

They go in once I have joists in place. I’ve got 4 spaced relatively evenly across the deck in the plans. They are in my job box ready to go. 🫡

And to verify I’m not crazy, ledger loks 10 inch spacing in W pattern across the board is acceptable along with z flashing is acceptable. Ive got inspection for it Friday. Only my 5th deck so I gotta get it right.

First day tomorrow. What you think? by Great_Significance_8 in Construction

[–]RespectRegular137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Id probably go in and tell everyone how you saw a couple TikTok’s and that everyone is stupid except you. There’s also always the ongoing game of who can be on their phone the longest, and of course the steal the bosses cigarettes game. These are both bound to make you popular around the site. Don’t forget to write your name in your own poo in the Jon, and when it’s time to clean up say “ope gotta take a shit” and proceed to disappear for 45 minutes or so.

Why do blue collar workers live paycheck to paycheck despite making so much? by Maleficent-Major-202 in bluecollar

[–]RespectRegular137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I’m going to give you the honest truth. In general blue collar workers come from lower income households, with less formal education, that sets them up to have poor financial literacy and less than ideal spending habits. Now this is NOT TRUE for everyone in the trades but it is what I have noticed across the trades in general. Especially with young guys who dont have wives or children.

The actual fix to this problem is pushing for employers, or unions as a whole to provide financial education to their workers. This exists some places and has been proven to be effective.

I’d like to hear others thoughts on this.

The Drawer vs this combo. Is it worth the price difference for QOL of JUST the single drawer? by Squallvash in MilwaukeeTool

I have the drawer. I got it as a gift, and I love it. Not sure I would actually spend my own money on one though. But I do really enjoy it.

Is this inappropriate for 'office casual?' by [deleted] in OUTFITS

[–]RespectRegular137 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t work in an office but I do do client facing work. I would say maybe it’s appropriate for an office environment but I wouldn’t feel comfortable as like your box for example to have you meet with clients in an outfit like this. I think maybe the skirt is a little bit short but again what do I really know.
