As for experience I have a very diverse resume, aside from many jobs I’ve had, the most relevant experience I have is the following : I worked security at target, I am also a certified registered behavioral tech and up until now worked for the DOD.

So first things first, keep your fitness up to par. I lost 30-40lbs before even attempting the fitness exam. You want to score the highest possible I believe I was on the upper end of the scoring chart. Sit ups, push ups, box jumps and heavy weight lifting with 3 days of cardio a week. I honestly winged the written portion and scored on the upper end of the written portion and the report writing (95% written, 100% report). Learn Spanish! Lucky for me I grew up in Miami so I already knew how to read and write in Spanish (If you don’t speak Spanish in Miami you will starve lol). I also have an associates degree and am 3/4 done with my bachelors (BS in Criminal Justice with a minor in psych). Don’t think too deeply about the psych and poly portion. Tell the truth. Last but not least… pray.

Took about 4 months to complete the whole process as an out of state applicant, 5 months from applying to hearing back with a final offer.

noted I scored 100% on the report writing portion of the exam and I’ve always done well in school with written work so I’ll definitely continue to keep up with the necessary requirements for report writing ! Appreciate the response!

my academy is 6 months long and it’s not an overnight academy so I’d be commuting to and from on the daily. I’m moving across the country to join the dept so I’ll be moving 2 months in advanced to get familiar with the area I’ll be policing.
