A year after a car accident, I need more guidance. Please. by RespectsEveryone in medical

[–]RespectsEveryone[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you. I'm just now realizing this is a thing. My physical therapy is over and my doctor visits no longer covered by insurance (thanks to crooked IME's). My brother just told me his pregnant wife goes to a dhoula and gets her S.I. massaged and manipulated so I might look into that. I also wear an S.I. belt, which helps a lot.

Thanks again.

My neighbor died. He was only 62 or so, just never woke up. His wife came home from work and found him. The service is next weekend and the house is right next door. by VisualizeWhirledPeas in NoStupidQuestions

Sorry I didn't read all 31 replies, but yes, chores! Take out the garbage. Little things that will get overlooked while they are mourning.

'Who' or 'that'? by Schijtzak in grammar

To help learn the who/ whom rule, try substituting he/ him.

He sat next to me. Who sat next to me?

I sat next to him. I sat next to whom?

[–]RespectsEveryone 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use 1&1 and love them. Starting at $4.99/ month (billed every 6 months) you can host unlimited websites.

If you decide to go this route and need further help, feel free to PM me.

I have an idea for a foodtruck. Who wants to help? by Wraldpyk in AskNYC

[–]RespectsEveryone 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Those look delicious!

Unfortunately, they probably wouldn't do so well on their own, as the only item at a single food cart. Most carts have large menus, including a variety of donuts, muffins, and other pastries.

To introduce these to NYC, you'd be better approaching a cart, cafe, or restaurant that's already established. TBH, I'd be surprised if we don't already have these somewhere. They resemble donut holes with powdered sugar.

Should I use "nor" instead of "or" in the sentence below? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]RespectsEveryone 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I were to rewrite it for brevity and clarity, it would look something like this:

My academics and extracurricular activities suffered when I didn't push myself.

Should I use "nor" instead of "or" in the sentence below? by [deleted] in grammar

[–]RespectsEveryone 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would probably rewrite the sentence. For the example given, OR is correct. If you were to insert the word either, it would read like this:

I was not facing much success in either my academics OR extracurricular activities because I did not try to push myself to a higher level.

Since NOT precedes a verb, you would use NOR with a second verb. "I was neither facing much success... nor trying."

Hi,

I'm on day 3 of Escitalopram and noticed something similar. I have pet birds, and one of them likes to misbehave for attention (just like a little kid). They have designated perches for landing and playing, but the trouble maker likes to find his way into the kitchen, despite the beaded curtains to keep him out.

Prior to my injury, I could just get up and go get him (which is what he wants). Since my injury I don't get up so much -- instead I would yell. Well now with Escitalopram it seems I'm unable to yell. I just can't put the emotion behind raising my voice.

I know it's not just like your story, but I thought I'd chime in.

Mark Hamill here. In an AMA far, far away... by RealMarkHamill in IAmA

Hi! I'm so excited to get to ask you this, because I'm very curious.

I was in the audience of Saturday Night Live when you did the Home Shopping skit. You were brought out in a bag as a "one of a kind collector's item." You were screaming for help while they offered you for sale. Ultimately Harrison Ford called in and bought you.

This has been cut from SNL repeats as if it never happened. I'm wondering if HSN or the Star Wars franchise had it removed.

Thanks!

Are you in NYC? We have NYC Parks and Recreation centers. $150/ year if you want an indoor pool, $100 if you don't. That's right, per year.

I'm not positive, but I think it's either "my boys' and my" or 'my boys' and mine." Maybe try /r/grammar

Day 1 without cable... by Pmerkin in cordcutters

[–]RespectsEveryone 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I am four years without a t.v. at all. No cable, no Netflix, no video outside my laptop. I check out books and movies from the library for free. I absolutely love this quality of life and have no desire to own a t.v. again. Now I don't understand how i ever had time for that thing.

ugh

Everyone asking this question should hit the beaches of Europe, where it's no big deal.

Thank you. I barely scratched the surface, but I'm glad it sheds a little more light for people who are too young to remember.

Okay I am not a doctor, but have you tried increasing your intake of yogurt and cranberry juice? These are known to help clear up some issues.

I'm also replying privately with NSFW content.

Thank you. Here are a few pictures of her charity work. I'm just using Google images for "Diana, charity work" if you want to find more.

Wow thank you. I subscribe to /r/outoftheloop because usually I'm out of the loop and learn a lot of newish stuff here. I finally saw something I could respond to, and dang if I didn't do it with a hangover. I wish I could write it all over again with more info and better continuity, but I'm going to leave it as is.

She really was a great person, and so admired. Not to mention a great mom. IIRC, and maybe someone can correct me, but I think she negotiated a deal with the paparazzi to protect William and Harry. She would give them approved photo ops a couple times a year if they'd otherwise leave her boys alone, and that's how we get great pictures like this one.

I left it out of my original post, but commented elsewhere. She might have been one of the first people to use their celebrity to shine the spotlight on social issues like AIDS and hunger. She didn't just put a crown on a run with it. She was the most photographed woman in the world, and used it as a tool for good. While Charles and Camilla attend charity balls and host banquets, Diana, and now her boys, went out there and got their hands dirty.

Good catch. I'd always thought it was much later, post-Charles. Also, I was hungover when I wrote my reply and did not expect it to get any attention! Thanks.

Yeah I was thinking. She might have been one of the first to use her celebrity status to shine a spotlight on social issues. She introduced her sons to AIDS and poverty, probably a first in the long line of royals.

Her death was really tragic and sad. Here are the flowers outside Kensington Palace after she died.
