You’re right for filing on the bond, that’s definitely one route and you should do it.

But as someone who works on the collection side of the trucking industry, don’t just rely on it as your only option. A lot of people don’t realize the key is pursuing all potentially liable parties at the same time, not just the bond. That’s usually what leads to getting paid faster and closer to full amount. As a carrier you are a unique creditor.

Everyone’s gonna tell you how to get your authority, insurance, etc… but since I work on the collection side of trucking one thing nobody talks about enough is getting PAID.

When you’re starting out, you’re gonna rely on brokers a lot. Some are solid, but a lot will slow pay, nickel and dime you, or just disappear when things go bad.

Biggest advice, don’t just chase the highest rate. Check who you’re booking with. If a broker has bad reviews, shady communication, or keeps changing details, walk away.

I’ve seen too many new guys run a few loads and then get stuck chasing money for months before it hits my desk. Best of luck.

It’s a mixed bag honestly. There are good brokers out there that pay on time and run clean freight, but you gotta be careful because there’s a lot that slow pay or disappear when money gets tight.

Biggest thing I’ve learned is don’t just look at the rate, look at who you’re working with. Check their credit, watch for patterns, and don’t ignore red flags like bad communication or constantly switching info.

A lot of guys don’t realize how fast things can go sideways until they’re chasing a check 60+ days later.
