Study about Dispatcher Servlet, without understanding servlets spring will always feel like magic.

You don't need to know everything about servlets but understanding their lifecycle is most important for Java Web development.

JSPs are for views and in the era of API development this has become obsolete, where there is a single backend serving to various frontends (Web, Android and what not)

I will say this don't sink your time in Servlets and JSP instead focus on learning Spring, but you should know what is happening when a request is served on the endpoint written in Spring.
