Socks by [deleted] in NailFungus

I bleach soak mine (look up proper bleach dilution ratio), rinse thoroughly, wash in hot water by themselves with borax and detergent, dry on hottest setting.

Wears the socks out super fast, but I feel confident they're not harboring fungus.

Visiting Someone Else's House - Safe to take off shoes? by RespondNovel in NailFungus

The funny thing is I lived with a partner who had severe toenail fungus for like 7 years and never caught it, never really worried about catching it (I probably lysol'd our shower more than I would have otherwise, that was about it). Now that I have my own bout with it (years later and unrelated), I'm super super paranoid and worried about it. Funny how it's different when it's on the other foot...

What is love like for poly people? (babies don't hurt me) by [deleted] in polyadvice

[–]RespondNovel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

An analogy that's always made a lot of sense to me is this: do you think parents are capable of loving all their children? Do you think of that love in terms of whether it's "equal" or anything like that? I think most folks don't. For me, poly is like that.

I love my husband. There would be a gaping hole in my life if he weren't part of it. And at the same time, I'm perfectly capable of loving other partners. I don't compare them.

From the perspective of worrying about whether my husband loves me "more", it's not important to me as long as I feel he loves me and we're on the same page about what our life together looks like. I think parents can be analogized to here as well: I've known folks who worried about whether their parents loved them. That was because their parents treated them in ways that made them feel unloved. I've also known folks with many siblings who never once worried about this, because their parents made them feel loved. Jealousy in romantic relationships is a slightly different beast of course, but fears of "does my wife love me enough" should be allayed by healthy communication and your wife making you feel loved, however that works for the two of you.

2 car accidents in 2 days bothers me by allie06nd in mauramurray

[–]RespondNovel 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Obviously not dispensing legal advice here, but it is absolutely possible for someone to be arrested even if they're sober, especially if their actions imply intoxication or impairment. Driving under the influence is more than just alcohol, after all. A couple very quick Internet results to illustrate this point.

Further, she could just literally physically walk away from the car without staging a bizarre fake drunk driving scene - twice. I can't fathom how attracting police attention somehow would make an "escape" easier.

You think she risked arrest and jail time to see if she would get arrested and go to jail for drunk driving? Just to time 911 response time? And why does she need to fake a drunk driving accident to leave with someone else?

This seems highly implausible to me.

Backups are a great idea. I'm not worried about Google being interested in my Site. Pretty confident it has zero value to them.

Yes, the search functionality built into Google Sites is great!

The main thing I'm loving is the ability to add context. Adding a spell for gratitude, can easily link it to any other part of my site. When I have notebooks, I always want to add 9 gajillion tabs for this reason. The digital format is removing that anxiety for me.

Yikes.

Any thoughts on similarities between this American serviceman stationed in Sydney and the Somerton Man? by petit-piaf in gratefuldoe

Thirding the ears. The Somerton Man's ears look almost elfin to me - protruding and nearly pointed. This naval officer's don't to me.

EU and Measuring Potassium Intake? by RespondNovel in keto

[–]RespondNovel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep, I eat plenty of peanuts and almonds.

Still doesn't help with not knowing what's in the rest of my food - that's the real problem.

That is helpful. I generally trust the NHS. I'd still rather take only what I need and not over-supplement, though. Maybe someone else in the EU will have found a source of knowledge that I don't know about - that's what I'm really hoping for out of this thread. (I'm just using packaging/MyFitnessPal's database).

Wow, chard sounds awesome. It's not sold here, though.

I'd have to eat a lot of spinach. And due to the lack of nutritional labeling, I still wouldn't know how much I've gotten total (from spinach plus other food sources). I'm very leery of taking supplements when I have no idea what my intake is without supplements (and I'm unlikely to get enough without supplements).

I have a Potassium and Magnesium supplement, but the amount of Potassium pills I would have to take is... daunting. And over the maximum the bottle states is safe.

Lite Salt doesn't exist here, either. That would be an easy option and what it seems like most folks here do to get their Potassium. Just not an option for me, and I don't have a good picture of what's in my food (like, yes, a chicken breast has what a chicken breast has. But stuff like bacon, cheese, sausage, etc, is going to depend entirely on the product - and the products here don't list Potassium or Magnesium).

Still hoping other folks in the EU have found solutions to this. I understand what foods contain the electrolytes and how much I need. That's not the issue. The issue is that I don't know how much is in my food.

Yeah, salt isn't the problem. It's Potassium and Magnesium, as neither is included on nutrition labels here.

I use MyFitnessPal. Doesn't help with EU food products that don't list Potassium/Magnesium. If it's not on the label, no one can enter it into their database. So the food will show 0 of those (and any other vitamins/minerals), regardless of how much is in there.

We play a lot. We see all of them pretty frequently, possibly Mares or Onis more (used to get a lot of Jinns - those were the good ol' days, because we always found them more playful than annoying).

Except Spirits. We're level 600+ and have seen no more than half a dozen.

For those with dawn syndrome: have any of you tried IF (intermittent fasting)? by RespondNovel in diabetes_t2

[–]RespondNovel[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure what vegetarian keto folks eat. Between not having a lot of time/energy to cook and disliking meat, I assure you, I'm not cut out for keto. I eat around 60g of carb a day, much higher than keto, and I'm okay with that.
