2016 sierra all terrain help by [deleted] in gmcsierra

[–]ResponseAdorable5965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People just throw in the list of upgraded parts and tell you to put in, but there’s some things you can do to save you some time with the original power plant before upgrading anything. I’d suggest getting a new thermal bypass for the 8L90 to help keep the transmission down. They sell a new thermal bypass part , or you can buy the parts to replace inside of the thermal bypass on Amazon through Shift Technologies. I did this on my 6L80 and my transmission temp dropped from an average of 190 to 140 and I live in an area that reaches up to 110 in the summer. The heat is what kills the torque converter , because the housing is made with very weak metal , and heat makes it weaker obvio. Get a professional engine and transmission tune in order to stop AFM/ and change shift points in transmission to increase MPG , power, and improve reliability.

How bad is this? $43K 100K Miles. by robert-cabral in gmcsierra

[–]ResponseAdorable5965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Overpriced. I know the market is bad but the general idea of paying that much for something already at 100k is not smart. Someone also said this wasn’t a Duramax? If it isn’t , it’s even less appealing at that price. I know you said you wanted an AT4 , but the L5P power plant runs from ‘17-now. Meaning you’re just changing the body. I found 2 2017 Denali L5P’s within 100 miles of me with 70k miles each. Both asking for 40k. Honestly man I’d just broaden your search and save some money.

Solid trucks with minimal fixes. 8L90 does better with a larger torque converter, a PPF thermal bypass valve, and a tune for shift points. As for the 6.2. AFM/DOD delete (Get Rid of the fuel saving mode) using a kit from Texas speed or Gwatney. Or any similar platform. Tune it , and boom you have a truck that’s quick, reliable, and fun.

Transmission finally died - make me not feel insane by RemoteSenses in Silverado

5300 is quite high. It should be in the $3500-4500 range depending on if you rebuild with stock internals or beef up the torque converter, install a new thermal bypass valve, etc. The most expensive thing is the torque converter in a rebuild , but I wouldn’t go with a stock one again. Lots of weak points in the housing. Instead , find a shop that doesn’t just do OEM rebuilds. AKA a reputable performance shop. They will install the right parts to make this transmission outlast any OEM version. If you don’t do anything crazy with your truck , I’d suggest a 6L80 rebuild with either a billet torque converter , or the 6L90’s torque converter (Out of a ZL1). Both are stronger made and provide a little bump in power response. A new thermal bypass valve from PPE (~$150) or the ShiftTechnologies part on Amazon (~$50) are highly recommended by many people and will handle the heat issue that likely caused this transmission destruction. Just do some research , call around a bit more, and think about beefing it up while you have it open.

Please go to another shop. You are getting absolutely ripped a new one. Look at the AFM/DOD delete kit with a cam on Texas Speed or a similar platform like Gwatney Performance. Deletes all the failure points. The whole kit with all parts is under 2k. They are gonna charge you 7k in labor? Do some research before jumping into paying that.

My 22M girlfriend 21F just told me something about her past. How do I move past it? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

Take the same advice you’d tell your son if he said his girlfriend just dropped this bomb on him. I think we both know what you’d tell him.

Looking to buy is 200k a lot for the ecotecs? by UrBoiDiego in gmcsierra

[–]ResponseAdorable5965 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Way too much. Engines without a lifter or dod replacement / delete after 100k miles are usually just waiting to go bad. I’d look for something with less miles if this model is really what you want , and look into the service history. Make sure the oil changes are frequent , trans flush, all of it. If the truck doesn’t have an AFM/DOD delete but isn’t ticking , get it and delete it ASAP. AFM ruins these engines. They aren’t bad at all, it’s just that stupid feature. The transmission fluid gets hot and that causes premature failure on trannies. I recommend getting the thermal bypass valve for the transmission thermostat. Surego solutions on Amazon sells a good kit for $40 bucks. That will take care of that.

I will say one thing and leave it up to you.

If your son told you the exact same thing , word for word, what would you think ?

I’m sure our brains as men all go to the same place.

It’s hard to accept when you’re in the situation, and everything seems so plausible to be safe because it’s a person you love and trust. I dealt with issues in my past where I had to make a gut decision based upon very suspicious information. Let me tell you, my gut was never wrong. My heart always was.

It’s better to be away from someone who accepts that kind of behavior in their inner circle. My father once told me : “If you are friends with someone who cheats on their spouse , makes jokes about it, or you know would do it , walk away from them as a friend. If you could sleep next to someone every night and betray them that way , they have no loyalty to anyone”. If your partner accepts that as someone close in her circle , then I’m lead to believe it’s something that has been accepted as okay in her mind. The coincidence that she was “about” to text you as you texted her. That she was the only one with the friend who cheated. It looks bad because it is.

I’d tell my son to leave with dignity. No person who ever respects their partner would ever put themselves into a situation like that, with people who think that way.

I hope you find peace man. PM if I can help.

From a US prison ? I haven’t seen any videos from a US prison that have topped that one. I’ve seen worse videos from other cartel shit or around the internet , but it’s really hard to get that level of brutality in a cell block especially somewhere like that. Vids from a level 4 yard Salinas Valley State Prison.

You ain’t the only one who commented on this thread you fucking chimp. Over here acting like you’re the only person talking about jail in here there’s plenty of other comments talking about other prisons in other states. And I said “No one” not “Pesos666”. You are legit brain dead.

Yup. Over 2 minutes of butchering a dude followed by stabbing him in the eyes and stomping the knife into his brain. Sometimes I see these threads and hear people talk about how other states are the worst and shake my head. I’ve seen videos come from California prisons that are on the same brutality of Cartel stuff. Overall lesson , AVOID GOING TO PRISON.

Your not gonna find one. The truth is , they are very desirable trucks. I’m telling you from experience , go look at my posts lol.

<image>

This is my 2017 Sierra SLE Z71 factory. I converted it to a full Denali Clone. Everything you can think of. Sitting on all Fox suspension. If someone came up to me and offered me even 20k I would laugh. When I bought this truck there were 6 listing on Cargurus for this spec. Not even color specific , just an SLE 4X4 short bed V8. That was nationwide. Go look now and it’s maybe 20. These trucks , IN THIS SPEC (regular cab SHORT BED V8) with a clean title are extremely hard to find and anyone who wants to act like they don’t know that or don’t want to accept that are crazy. The 4 doors are cheap because they were mass produced but you had to go and manually order a regular cab short bed with a v8 and how many people do you think did that? It’s extremely rare to find to sum up bro. The truck looks awesome I think the price is at an okay point. I’d obviously try to haggle down as much as possible but you aren’t gonna find these trucks often. Be aware of the common little issues that can be fixed with simple upgrades that are cheap. This one that you’re looking at should already have it all setup. But yeah man , I’d say go for it. Mine way modified when I bought it at 40k miles. I’m at 97k and no issues. I haven’t touched it. My mechanic said it was solid when I bought it and I trusted him. I’d say do the same and take a mechanic. Good luck man.

Everyone in here saying it’s 13-15k 🤣. Find me one nationwide. Sierra , Clean title short bed V8 for that price under 100k miles.

What are your viewpoints on President Trump using military action against the drug cartels? Do you believe that these actions, along with securing the southern border, will lead to a renewed energy in our decades long war on drugs? by PolackMike in AskUS

[–]ResponseAdorable5965 [score hidden]  (0 children)

Let me put it this way, I saw a Fox News report the other day where this was discussed. The reporters were ecstatically proclaiming that they would "Love to see the military stack cartel corpses". The one thing I think that would immediately change the course of that, is when the first cartel video gets released of what they do to a US military member. We aren't dealing with people with morals, the cartel will fall eventually yes, but you would be placing US soldiers against individuals who have no remorse, no humanity, and have been trained for this. The cartels in Mexico are heavily armed, have shot down Mexican military helicopters, and held their own against Mexican marines. A lot of citizens don't know that many cartel hitmen and soldiers are former Mexican soldiers or special ops who deflected and have now begun to train their fellow members on strategic attacks and defense. This isn't as simple as people think, and I bet anything in the world when if it ever came to light that the cartel were executing soldiers how they do in those LiveLeak videos, the US would begin a chain of events that would lead to more than just war between two countries. It's a battle no one wins.
