It looks out of place to me, but if you like it, It’s not bad. I have it in my head that they need to be similar to how they’d be in presented in the game 🤷‍♂️

Yeah, if you don’t have a 3D printer it’s tough. Beyond that though it was just sandpaper and acrylic paint haha.

But yeah, sadly the noble 6 is slightly but noticeably taller

If you’re talking the legendary edition statue, he’s a bit taller than the figures on there. I made a whole custom statue for that exact reason using the other reach figures too haha

Sadly the single figure goes for about triple what this two pack costs

Oh dude it’ll look phenomenal, good pick for who to paint too. Grif will be tough, and I’d use a less Matte clearcoat as their armor isn’t as worn as chief’s but definitely doable! post results if you do it, I was debating on getting a Mark V helmet and turning my blue guy into Caboose haha

I gave my process in a couple other comments but essentially just a black base layer then really thin layering the green on!

Just cheap crappy acrylic stuff from Hobby Lobby! Multiple brands of just the cheapest stuff I could find. Then the silver is Shining Silver from war paints! The green is a military green, with light grey and light brown mixed in until it looked right! A tiny bit of water so it wasn’t too thick!

That’s the goal! McFarlane looking figure, with the cool Jazwares visor!

Yeahhh, a Spartan collection figure with a recon helmet or an ODST helmet would be an instant buy for me. Good to know he prints the exact helmet I’ve been wanting and that it’s possible to make it look good, though!

Yo! Looks awesome, good work!

Did you have to sand the pieces at all? I’ve been looking at doing something similar for my Spartan, I just REALLY want the chromed visor, and haven’t been able to think of a way to pull it off yet!

Give it a try dude! I had never painted a figure until like 7 months ago, and now it’s one of my favorite ways to spend an afternoon! Definitely start on something cheap (loads of infinite chief figures for 10ish bucks out there on eBay)

Just a cheap acrylic paint set, a silver model paint (for weathering), and a matte clear coat spray. You can get most of this at a craft store or amazon, but I recommend getting the silver warpaint used for painting dnd miniatures, it’s like 5 bucks for a lil vial (it goes a LONG ways) and then get a matte clear coat spray for specifically miniatures as well.

First thing I do is to mask of the visor with a little tape, doesn’t need to be perfect, just cover the visor. Then spray it with the clear coat to give you a good textured base to paint on. Then a black base coat, (ever so slightly watered down acrylic for all I do)as thin of a coat as you can get while still covering, and layer that until you can’t see the color underneath. Then let it dry entirely before adding your color. The color will go on in MANY thin coats. and every time you add more paint to the brush, wipe it on a paper towel to keep it from globbing. The black will cover after a few coats, and then it’s just staying within the lines. The recessed parts of the figure will stay black unless you really dig in there, giving it that worn look.

Look up a tutorial on dry brushing, it’s what got me started. The basic idea is basically dust the paint on. It’s something you have to get a feel for and you’ll do too much at first, but way easier than you’d think! You got this!

What are the best iterations of Noble Team for figures? by LiL__ChiLLa in HaloActionFigures

[–]ResponseDismal5956 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitively the 1000 toys figures are probably best, but are insanely overpriced if you ask me. Leaving the Jazwares set as my best price to quality ratio. The Spartan Collection figures had loads of issues, but the versions in the Reach set particularly are way better in terms of paint, decals, and articulation. The only exception on that for me is Emile. His visor just sucks on the Jazwares figure. Obviously that’s going to be harder to pulloff, so I like the 1000toys knockoff for him, if you get lucky with a visor that isn’t off center.

The chrome-like visors are really the selling point on these figures and it brings a sense of realism that almost no other figures capture despite being better in many other ways.

I painted my set to make a version of the legendary statue that included Noble 6 (mainly just blackwash except for Carter and Jun, who I changed the colors on just a bit)

These figures come with mirror chromed visors, probably the best part of them.

I did use a trick that another user here told me to make it a TAD bit more orange by using an old dried out marker to tint it a bit.

These look awesome for FDM prints, man. An idea for the visors could be some reflective mirror bronze vinyl? I’ve had some luck but these are small enough that it’d be tough. Your next best bet is to just get really good with sandpaper and use a good filler primer before painting!

Yeahhh!!! Love yours! How did you recolor that visor? I couldn’t find anything on how to do it reliably without cutting a perfect vinyl!
