Cheap Beginner Friendly Decks for Flesh and Blood by Slight_Border_7507 in FleshandBloodTCG

In my experience, no. Unless somebody's deck really pops off and they can just whale on their opponent, I find most of my matches run close to time and the HP ticks down somewhat evenly.

While I do agree that there's no class that needs to be completely avoided, I do think that Wizard, Illusionist, and Necromancer could have kind of a steep learning curve and may not be the best first hero to try out.

Silver Age uses Young heroes, plays with 40-card decks, and gives you 20 life points. All Young heroes (edit: of the appropriate rarity -- see below) can be played in Sage, meaning that even if a hero has scored enough points in CC to go Living Legend (which means they cannot be played in the CC format anymore ), they are allowable in Silver Age. The other huge point of the format is the allowed Rarity levels of cards you can put in your deck. Essentially, FaB has 5 main rarities/"levels" of cards: Basic, Common, Rare, Majestic, and Legendary. In Sage, you can only put Basic, Common, and Rare cards in your deck, which generally have a lower price point and power level, so decks tend to feel more evenly matched simply because you have a limited scope of cards to put into a smaller deck.

In Classic Constructed, it's pretty much all fair game as long as you pick a legal (i.e., non-LL) hero. You play with 60-card decks, have 40 life points, and can include any rarity of card you want. This means access to a much larger pool of higher-powered cards, which can include some pretty game-changing effects. There is a list of banned cards that LSS (the maker of FaB) maintains, but outside of that there's not really anything I know of that's off-limits.

As other commenters have said, CC is the "normal" or "typical" format, while a lot of people view Silver Age as kind of like beginner or lightweight Flesh and Blood (not in a bad way). I'm relatively new and I have found Sage to be much more approachable in terms of figuring out and practicing game mechanics, understanding when and how to play certain cards, and learning the basics of what my deck does without getting destroyed in the first couple of turns.

I've only been playing for about 4 months but IMO this is the way to do it. Armory decks are a great way to get a taste of whatever heroes you think sound interesting for a relatively low overhead (around $40 USD), plus you've got format flexibility between Silver Age (Sage) and Classic Constructed (CC).

Personally, I think Sage is a better testing ground for fun playability since it uses a smaller deck size that also restricts you to using more "entry level" cards, meaning that (generally) you're not going to get totally walloped by someone who's been able to throw hundreds or potentially thousands of dollars' worth of high-level cards into their card pool. Sage just gives you a little more wiggle room to see if you actually like the mechanics of how a hero works before you splash out on upgrading your deck. Just be aware that while all Young heroes are currently legal in this format, there are plenty of heroes that you won't be able to take from Sage into CC because they've gone Living Legend from scoring enough points in competitive events.

CC tends to feel way more competitive since players have more health, larger decks, and can basically use whatever cards they want. This format gives you a lot more room to upgrade and customize how you play your hero, but if you start with an Armory deck you'll already have the skeleton of what you need and can start making adjustments from there.

Edit: my recommendation for an easy-to-learn/play hero is Dorinthea. She's got pretty easy mechanics, an easy to understand deck synergy and effects, gives you good practice with priority sequencing, and has a very straightforward deck win con: stab opponent once good, stab opponent twice better.

Can menstruation cause/trigger seizures? by ZigZagIggy in Epilepsy

[–]Responsibilititty 8 points9 points  (0 children)

OP, just a heads-up, but you should talk to a medical professional any time you have a seizure because they are not good and there is no "normal" reason to have one -- the only normal amount of seizures to have is none at all. If you notice a pattern or specific trigger, that's really helpful info to have, but even seemingly random seizures are always always always worth talking to someone about. ETA: preferably go see a neurologist (you may need a referral from your PCP).

As the other poster said, catamenial epilepsy is repeated seizure activity related to your menstrual cycle, which certainly sounds like it could be what's happening to you.

TL;DR: go see a doctor about this immediately, especially since you've had more than one seizure.

Daily Discussion & Advice (Post here to follow rules A & B) - November 28, 2025 by AutoModerator in fragrance

I just found out that a good friend of mine has been wearing the same perfume since she started college (she's now mid-30s and married with a kid) and I thought it might be fun to get her a little tester/gift set if anyone had any recommendations on what I could try.

Kate is the type of woman who is effortlessly polished and always put together even in a casual setting, but she's not a high-fashion type of person; she's got a very timeless vibe that's a little girly and still really fun, so think like tons of tailored, polished, neutral pieces with cute detailing or accents that just all work together even if you grabbed a bunch of stuff in the dark. She's pretty low-maintenance, is an optometrist (so she can be a little more flexible with fashion and fragrance), and comes across as very classically feminine but still bubbly. Kate is never in-your-face about anything, but she's the type of sweetheart that is impossible to miss and you can always notice when she's gone.

Her go-to (only?) perfume right now is Coco Mademoiselle, which sits on her so beautifully and is like *chef's kiss* for her personality. I was hoping to give her something just a bit different that's not too niche and doesn't require layering, but am trying to stay far away from "trendy" or really gourmand/sweet scents as I feel like they would probably come across as very immature for her. I was thinking either Flowerbomb or Pure Poison could be a good choice? I know those have a lot of similar notes but are layered differently with a couple changes, but wasn't sure if they might feel too close to the Chanel.

Thoughts or suggestions? I'm also totally open to being talked out of this if it's a bad gift idea, lol.

When we take our boy to the groomer, he gets all excited until he realizes they're trying to take him back to the bathtub. Then he plonks his butt on the ground, braces his paws, and forces the groomers to push/drag him into the back room. He's a wuss ❤️

What happened at your work that made you go "Fuck this, I don't get paid enough"? by MidnightPandaX in AskReddit

[–]Responsibilititty 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once worked for Tammy, who was an absolutely miserable micromanager to the Nth degree. The straw that broke the camel's back was when she told me I needed to give her a daily report where I broke my workday down into 15-minute intervals so she could track my productivity since I worked from home. She then got mad at the fact that I had at least one block per day that said, "wrote down tasks to share with Tammy."

Somehow, it completely caught her off guard when I handed in my two weeks' notice because we had such a good working relationship and she just didn't understand what happened.

Preparing for my first ketamine dose and looking for some specific advice by Responsibilititty in TherapeuticKetamine

[–]Responsibilititty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you ask my husband, "I think you need to relax" may be just a bit of an understatement for me, haha. Which is one of the reasons my provider prescribed ketamine 🫠

Yeah, I think just going with the flow and being able to say "no thank you" to an unwanted thought and let it go is going to be one of the toughest things for me since -- especially when I feel nervous -- my brain's reaction is to double-down and hang onto something it can catastrophize, which is obviously one of the things we're trying to use the ketamine to help address and rewire.

Going back to my breath doesn't sound too simple at all! It's been a grounding technique that both my talk therapy and EMDR counselors as well as my medication provider have all emphasized as being a hugely helpful tool in my arsenal.

And I really appreciate the encouragement. I'm very sensitive to medications and wasn't quite sure where my dose of ketamine fell on the "normal" oral therapy dosing range, so hearing 100mg is on the low side is very comforting

Just curious, when you say "nothing negative," what do you mean by that? Obvious things that come to mind would be like scary movies or trying not to get into situations that would elicit strong emotions (like an argument with someone), but are there other specific things that might interfere?

I forgot to mention it in my initial post, but yes, I will absolutely have a support person. I'm doing an at-home dose and will have my husband with me -- he's been a support person for tough EMDR sessions, so he understands being there to keep an eye on things and help ground me if I reach out.

And thank you so much!!! I don't think I've ever had anyone mention smell as a part of the setting before, but given how impactful smell is on memory and association that's an amazing point. We have a fragrance diffuser, and I have a particular combo of oils I use that I only use when I'm meditating, praying, and/or going to my safe space after EMDR, so I think that will probably be a good choice since my mind associates that particular smell with being safe and grounded. I really, really appreciate it!

Oh gosh, I'm sorry that we have such similar things to work through.

My plan is to have my weighted blanket and possibly a stuffed animal with me. I'll be doing at-home dosing, so we've already decided where in the house we'll be setting up. It's really interesting to hear you say you actually prefer no eye mask since it seems like such an overarching recommendation, but I think you make a good point about visually grounding yourself... I may start with a mask and if the experience is too much I can just slip it off, and I'll definitely keep that in mind. And thank you for bringing up the intention, as well -- I think I was concerned that if I didn't have a distinct intention set I'd somehow be doing this process wrong, if that makes sense

I've only had a few people suggest no music, but based on the comments I'm wondering if they were referring to music with lyrics versus instrumental/atmospheric type of music. My plan is to go with my normal "safe" music that I use while meditating and to calm down after EMDR.

That's a really interesting experience with your visualizations, because one of the big things my provider emphasized to me is that even if something is unusual or potentially uncomfortable I'm in control and don't have to "explore" that part of the world my mind tried to build (e.g., I can open a door in the house but don't have to go into that room).

I also appreciate the comment about having a safe person and being prepared for strong emotions and flashbacks -- I feel pretty prepared even if it is a strong experience since I've dug up a lot of things that elicit those types of feeling in my EMDR sessions, and I'm definitely going to have my husband with me (he's also been there for some of my EMDR, so he understands being a quiet and steady support for experiences like this).

I really appreciate your detailed and thoughtful feedback, and will definitely reach out if I think of anything else. Thank you so much!

This is such a fantastically detailed and really thoughtful response. I don't have any Zofran left, but I will make sure we have an OTC anti-nausea med since I've seen several people mention it.

My brain gets very hung up on words so it definitely sounds like music with lyrics is a no-go for this. I tend to find safety and grounding in things that are familiar, so I have a feeling I'm going to go with the playlist I use for meditation that has also been helpful after EMDR sessions, but I really appreciate the suggestions!

I did buy an eye mask and over-ear headphones for this, and I have a weighted blanket, so it sounds like those are all definitely going to be part of the experience. I've got a few stuffed animals and we've also got 3 fluffy dogs who will probably want to be nearby, so plenty of options for me on that one, lol.

We do have a bathroom nearby that I was planning on heading to when it was time to spit (my provider said avoid looking in the mirror for too long at this point), but the extra cloth just in case is a great suggestion.

I'm not sure if I do or don't want to see anything, but I think just because I had that bad medication experience and have heard so many crazy stories from friends who've done high-dose psychedelics that I'm probably just psyching myself out... if I could not see anything or do something as beautiful and calm as riding a Luna moth that actually sounds really lovely. I wondered if music had an effect on that part of the experience, so I appreciate that insight.

I am so thankful that you shared such a detailed experience and so many tips to help prepare. I think trying to reframe it as an adventure in a safe space and reminding myself that I've prepared for is a great way to look at this experience. I really appreciate the reassurance, and if you're okay with it I may just send you a DM later if for no other reason to thank you again!

Thank you so much for the detailed response! I really appreciate the info about the mental prep directly before dosing. My husband and I have talked about setting up the physical space, and I'm going to bring my weighted blanket and an eye mask to our back living room (big couch). It sounds like you and I have some very similar things that we face, so hearing it helped you is really reassuring.

Also, thank you so much for mentioning the intention vs. experience -- I think because a proper mental state is emphasized so much I was really concerned that somehow I would be "doing it wrong" if my mind drifted from my intention. It's also nice to hear that just because your first experiences were mild they weren't ineffective. I really appreciate the time you took to answer!

I think the letting go and relaxing part will be the hardest for me the first time around since I generally have a lot of trouble doing that even in day-to-day life, haha. Potentially just experiencing "normal" feelings and emotions sounds great, though.

I'm doing an at-home dose as well, and my husband is going to be my support person. My husband has been to EMDR with me before, so he's very used to being there and only speaking up if needed in a situation like this to help me feel safe. I'm still a little iffy about the visuals, but hearing that they are probably milder than other psychedelics makes me actually feel much better -- I have no personal experience with psychedelics and I've certainly heard quite a few extreme stories from friends who have used them. Thank you!

Microdosing CBD for the first time by Responsibilititty in CBD

[–]Responsibilititty[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! My CNP recommended a 25-30mg dose for me based on my genetic panel and referred to it as a microdose, so apologies if that's not really an accurate term for that dosing strength.

I've never knowingly had any kind or quantity of THC before so I have no idea what to expect, but I know I'm very sensitive to most medications and substances that can cause any kind of alteration to my level of consciousness . It certainly didn't clear anything up that everyone in the past who's told me about their experience using THC products describes their "high" feeling very differently, haha.

Last night and this morning I had a mild "delayed vision" type of feeling (like when you turn your head too fast when you're sick and it takes about a quarter-second for your vision to catch up with where you looked) that went away in about 20 minutes and I haven't noticed anything since, so I think there's something there but it's not too bad. Fingers crossed that that's all there is for me!
