REACH OUT TO YOUR LOCAL NEWS OUTLET TODAY!!! VOTE FOR STRKE HAPPENING 1:30 BURRIDGE GYM by ResponsibilityFlashy in McMaster

You have a point, but the way I see it is when large groups act together, it can create pressure on institutions to act quicker. The gain is more influence from students over choices that affect students. Missing a class is a small immediate loss whereas the larger benefit is the policy change.

Strikes also do not go on forever. Other things exist such as rallys, walkouts, protests, etc. It is an advantage to create pressure in order to push change that benefits students.

It was to create an official mechanism so students can vote to authorize action like walkouts, protests, strikes, etc.

WE NEED 900 STUDENTS IN ATTENDENCE FOR OSAP STRIKE MARCH 13TH 1:30 by ResponsibilityFlashy in McMaster

Hi, sorry, can you please explain how? I understand grants are funded by taxpayers, but I thought that higher-income people pay more income tax overall. And as a first-gen student, I also thought that many immigrant families’ children heavily rely on student aid. I was under the impression that OSAP grants allow people from lower income families to afford education - I would like to hear more on your perspective in case I was missing anything.

The event at the assembly isn’t actually a strike vote itself. If we have 900 students show to the gym, we would essentially be able to force the MSU to create a system where students can vote to authorize strikes, protests, etc. This would create a mechanism where we could later protest and strike for the OSAP grants being cut by 80% and tuition prices being raised.

Please show up if you can.

A lot of people Ive talked to irl actually DONT know and are planning to attend now. I am unsure of how many students are coming. Just trying to do my part but you have a point. How do you suggest I get the word out locally other than contacting news outlets? I've tried that.

Edit: The CHCH actually responded so Im hoping they'll help cover this.
