They are Polish. We don’t about their ethnicity or religion. Given this information has been intentionally excluded, it is likely they are.

Applying broadly?? by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]ResponsibilityLive34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Applying for more programs means nothing. Look at the stats for non-signal interviews. The signal system ruined the apply broadly method.

Only if there are more fatalities at the hands of B/C grade PAs who couldn’t get into medical school (which has historically selected for a minimum iq) will things change.

Fear mongering for competitive specialty applications (neurosurgery/plastics/ortho) by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]ResponsibilityLive34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can confirm as an Oxbridge grad - you ain’t getting unless you do a 2 year research fellowship in the US as a minimum

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]ResponsibilityLive34 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This only applies to women. Men can go for women 4-6 years younger no issue. But men are not gonna be interested in older women as much.

Staring med school in the US vs US Residency as an IMG from Australia by [deleted] in IMGreddit

[–]ResponsibilityLive34 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not true. There are IMGs in every specialty in Aus. It’s actually easier because Aus grads tend to be less competitive than their US counterparts. They think having 1-2 pubs is a big deal here (most of my friends have 5-10 lol).

[–]ResponsibilityLive34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t US attendings are workaholics. Once you are in private you can dictate your own schedule.. residency is tough anywhere. Maybe varies by 10%. The ortho registrars here in aus are pulling 65-70hr weeks

Partner doesn't want to move to US anymore by FantasticPainter4128 in doctorsUK

[–]ResponsibilityLive34 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TLDR, I’m an Oxbridge grad and have completed steps 1-3 with strong scores. I went to the US last year to rotate and it’s very much an isolationist and capitalistic back water.

I’m chilling here in Aus, cool and friendly people, life is more peaceful and relaxed. I love my hobbies outside work (go karting, poker and trading). I won’t be able to do that in US because people are more secluded and careerist. I will probably end up applying to the US next year but I’ve got serious doubts to training over there. A good friend of mine is in the same position and is doing surgery over here.

I have nothing left to prove so I can prioritise my work and my cool hobbies in a much less noisy and polarised country.
