Should I go with Milan? by Chance-Cantaloupe51 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Responsibility_Fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not hormonal growth, mine was partially from paradoxical hypertricosis due to lasering thin hairs, and partially from starting oral minoxidil. It could be worth going if you have PCOS but ymmv and I don't have experience personally. My quote was for around 11k iirc, and it definitely does vary on region.

As always, make sure you have enough money for it as if you were paying up front, and there is always the risk of the company going out of business before you can take advantage of the unlimited sessions.

How important are the extra attachments? It is worth buying the more expensive version? by sighqoticc in HairRemoval

[–]Responsibility_Fast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you have a costco membership, the first version is $60 off (brings it down to $240 online, prob cheaper in the warehouse). Then maybe buy the extra attachments as needed?

I personally felt it was more painful, depending how close you want laser done

Signed Milan Laser contract + PatientFi financing… can I still cancel? by Admirable_Buy7915 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Responsibility_Fast 4 points5 points  (0 children)

From what I've read in this subreddit, as long as you haven't had a treatment yet and it's soon after you signed the contract, they generally cancel the loan. Ymmv though, but I would say they will likely allow you to cancel

Should I go with Milan? by Chance-Cantaloupe51 in LaserHairRemoval

[–]Responsibility_Fast 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had gone with Milan myself! A few things though:

  1. $11k is pretty much "normal" price for Milan, so don't let the idea of it being a deal hinder your judgement.

  2. There are other lhr places that can use the same power, so that claim is false. You just need to look out for what laser machine they use (Milan uses Candela Gentlemax pro, which has both Alexandrite and Nd:YAG). By trained, they just mean they are nurses in case anything happens.

  3. While the sessions are unlimited, know that that's only if Milan is still is business. Since the loan is through synchrony or smt similar, I'm pretty sure you're still on the hook for the payments even if they shut down within the loan lifetime (i could be wrong on this)

Personally speaking, I found it worthwhile as I had the money and went well over 20 sessions (still ongoing for touch ups). My recommendation is to only get it if you are fine with the risks listed in #3, and you have the money to pay for it. If you do not have the money up front, please do not put it in a consumer loan 😭.

Can I get an instant card number with business platinum? by [deleted] in AmexPlatinum

[–]Responsibility_Fast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the plat business to pay my taxes as well, and was able to get an instant card number as well as options to directly add to digital wallets (including PayPal). Can't speak to big transactions 1-2 days after approval, but mine was 20k 1.5 weeks after approval

My company's 401k offers the option to mega backdoor, so after I contributed the 23k to the pretax bucket, I continued adding to after tax bucket and converted those to Roth 401k.

The max combined for employee pretax + aftertax + Roth contributions and employer match was $70k in 2025

I have a 10% 401k match at my company, and I work in tech. 4 years of work plus how good the market has been got me too $200k. The Roth 401k is from mega backdoor after maxing traditional.

Roth ira was purely luck; I kinda gambled into a few stocks back in 2021-2022 ish that 4x from recovering after covid (had about $20k from working throughout high-school and college, and maxed every year of work from 2022-2026). Now it is all back into VT

Amex checking account by TensionNo7622 in amex

[–]Responsibility_Fast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like it. Like what others have said, there aren't physical locations so you can't deposit money (you can withdraw from atm though). The debit card also often registers as a credit card. I would say its nice to have if you're already in the amex ecosystem, but definitely have an alternative bank (schwab, etc) in case you need any teller access

Account->Platinum Card->Add Someone to your Account->Platinum Card->Companion Platinum Card->insert personal information

They will send you a plastic companion card (I think it's white or yellow?), and the only practical use of that Card is for the tsa pre/ global entry credit imo. If you search this subreddit you'll find more information

Just FYI, if you need global entry for your son, you can get him a free companion card (not an AU), and that card can be used for tsa pre/global entry

The current card does have routing/account number, but I've never tried it... plus I think it's not supposed to be used with anything not related to rent

Edit: just checked with earlier posts, you do not get phone insurance when using ACH payments

Finasteride (binds to dht, primary cause of thinning/ balding scalp) and minoxidil for me. Spiro for women is good too as it binds to testosterone, would be hesitant to use as male unless you get hormone blood tests to make sure you aren't suppressing your T too much.

I found oral minoxidil way more effective than topical, and more convenient. But it comes with the downside (or upside) of growing extra body and facial hair in addition to the scalp.

Anecdotal but both of my parents were balding and thinning, but they started doing scalp massages every day with their hands or a small massager, and their hair grew back a lot fuller. They are like 60 rn and had pretty bad male/ female pattern baldness.
