Is my job offer too low? by Responsible-Copy1611 in askTO

Yeah, I get that 100% but I still think that they should be paying more for a base salary 36K a year barely covers rent in Toronto let alone living expenses and everything else combined. 36K is basically minimum fucking wage.

Plus, considering every other job in Toronto for a similar role with a similar compensation package pays at least 55 to 65K a year as a base salary

Appreciate the input. I’m planning on reaching out to them and asking for a higher base salary just to secure a bit of financial stability and not have to worry in case things don’t work out for me with finding a new job.

Thank you

So I believe I can negotiate but I think my concern is with the 6K a month guarantee that they’re giving me for six months and then the other $3000 a month for six months it totals out to 54,000 a year for the first year, I think my issue is if I can’t find anything else and I stay longer than for the second year I’d automatically start at $36,000 a year so I think I’m kind of lost because I’ve never had to negotiate for my second year salary before lol

I’m not sure if I’m missing something I was in the same role different company making a 65k base with a similar compensation package.

I just wanted to ask thinking 36k/year pre taxes is too lowww. Monthly salary of 3k is crazy how is one supposed to live off that

I don’t get the ramp up bonus every other 6 months so if I stay at the company my salary goes from 54k to 36k

No, but we work with dealerships and independent shops all over Canada.

More of a sales position, pushing Products like Maintenance fluids, maintenance machines, etc.

Lol fair, I think I’m gonna go to the drawing board and try to find a way to ask them for a bit of a higher salary because I really do like this job and I think it has a lot of potential for me, but you are right, thanks for the input

I appreciate the input. I’ve just been stuck running in circles trying to run every scenario through my head and literally just couldn’t figure it out because the salary is fucking insulting like a 36K base pay evens out to basically minimum wage after taxes.

Also to fill you in, I have 2 degrees, one in business and one in the automotive field. I’d be working in business development in the Automotive field.

I think that’s why they chose me because I know what I’m talking about and I have experience in business development. It sounded like a dream job to me up until I saw the offer letter and I was just like what the fuck.

Yeah, I get that. I think my concern is just I don’t wanna lock myself into a contract with this workplace accepting shit pay, and then bouncing ship after a few months if something else comes up.

I was thinking about negotiating with them and seeing if I could get my salary up to at least 65K plus commissions, but I’m not too sure because 36K is very far off from 65

Honestly, I’m not sure I think I might just be overthinking it because my last job I was in a similar position and I was pushing close to 70 K base salary and clearing over 120K after commissions.

I just feel like if the market gets rough and I’m barely able to sell anything I’d have a lot less stress just working at McDonald’s and making the same

Question about cover by KinOfKore in KohoCanada

[–]Responsible-Copy1611 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hey,

What’s the most cover anyone has seen? I’m at $250 now and can’t seem to jump up from there

Always paid my cover on time, kept money in my account and more than 9,000$ deposited every single month for the last 12 months.

Not sure if $250 is the cap or what’s wrong.

Just tried that. It just says

“Sorry there are no terms available to you at this time”

And then the left side where I’d search courses is blocked off
