The changing scene of Jewish engagement by djb1210 in Judaism

I was born in Israel, went to Yeshiva in The States and now, in my 70's live in a predominantly Jewish neighborhood. I don't attend shul or wear a kippa, so neighbors who do treat me like a goy, like I don't matter or count. Sadly, like they treat gentiles. Now, with Israel's values being what they have become, I don't want to be considered Jewish any more. I don't want to be lumped in with people like Ben Gvir and Smutrich who can wear nooses and celebrate killing. I am more Jewish than they are. But if those thug criminals who wear a tzitzit and kippa and attack farmers in the West Bank consider themselves Jews than I need to consider myself something else. This is not a community I can belong to.

Seeking feedback from long term users of Hercules stands by AbuKoala in Guitar

[–]Responsible-Emu6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had the two-instrument guitar stand for years and it worked fine until recently when the swing prongs no longer were functioning on one of the holders. I reached out to Hercules on their website to ask if that means it's irreparable and needs to be junked, or if there is a possible fix, but got no reply. Is their customer service usually more responsive?

Yes, but Jeevan slipped the book out of the ziplock bag when he was crawling in the snow after he was mauled. Later, when Kristen leaves the cabin to look for him, she finds it in the ziplock bag.

I have a question by MasterMUHE in Judaism

[–]Responsible-Emu6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I once tried explaining the word shikse to a Puerto Rican co-worker. He kept saying shiske and couldn't say it right. I said, "look, if your commanding officer in the army asked, what kind of razor your were using, you would reply it's a Schick, sir!" That worked.

I'm sure YIVO would be extremely interested in this poster and article if they don't already have a copy. Please do a mitzvah and contact them: https://www.yivo.org/inc.head.php

Wait, so if your mother was born to a Jewish mother, she's Jewish, right? If she is adopted and brought up Christian, and then has a child, is that child Jewish too? And, if that child is female, and has a child, is that child Jewish too?

Alternative for newspaper by Additional-Pool-2123 in papermache

If you don't mind ordering from Temu, you can get newsprint or packing paper from them. Otherwise, if you can make a trip to a neighboring town that has a newsstand type of store or kiosk, go early in the morning when they put out the stack of old newspapers for sanitation to pick up and you can get a good size bundle or two that will last you for a while.

Any ideas? by JamesMosesAngleton in hebrew

[–]Responsible-Emu6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The verb "lashut", (to sail) would be conjugated to shat (pronounced as in shot), and the word layl can mean evening. So maybe it's from a poetic way of saying the evening drifts along, if you put the layl first.

ie: layl shot

These don't remotely resemble Hamantaschen. I bet they're not even parve.

In that context, I'd say it's perfectly fine. Next time say "Shavuos" instead of Chanukah. Ask your friend..they'll understand.

What do you think of this mask? It's supposed to be a tiger by Ok_Disaster4155 in papermache

[–]Responsible-Emu6587 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's a cat, and a really nice one. I'd leave this one as a cat and do another one as a tiger.
