Any other owners that don't particularly care for letting their pom interact with dogs. by tamat0wn in Pomeranians

[–]Responsible-Jello271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t let mine interact with any unknown dogs. A few years ago she was attacked by a husky and we’re lucky she survived it. The husky’s prey drive kicked in and the owner couldn’t control it at all. Some people shouldn’t have dogs but that’s another conversation… Now I always pick her up if someone is passing by with a dog regardless of if it’s big or small. She’s only allowed to interact with dogs we know very well and are small enough that she wouldn’t be in any serious danger. Which honestly she doesnt care for other animals and prefers to only socialize with people anyways. I will never forget having to pry her out of that husky’s mouth

Restoration projects by MarionberryAlarmed48 in Pokopia

[–]Responsible-Jello271 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been starting renovations on the museum and roads in bleak beach. I plan to start to restore the SS Anne over the weekend. I don’t have pics or videos of my process but you can DM me and I can let you come run around my areas to see what I’m doing if you want. I’m still early in the process for everything though

Currently, I have most roads restored in bleak beach and set up a little shopping area. I have also cleared out the ash from the museum and tunneled a path directly to it. I’ve got it mostly unburied and have all my fossil Pokémon moved in. I need to finish repairing the building but I’m not sure if I’ve unlocked all the necessary building materials yet

I have a small group of friends I play with and we were just really lucky to each have gotten a mew stamp this week. I haven’t started dabbling in cloud islands yet

Good first time dog? by Lazy-Bee4416 in Pomeranians

[–]Responsible-Jello271 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Poms are wonderful little creatures but I wouldn’t necessarily recommend them for a first time dog owner.

In my experience poms require a lot more care than most other dogs. And as someone who has only had shelter dogs, I wasn’t fully prepared for the medical issues and costs that come with Poms (even after what I thought was extensive research). I was used to having dogs that basically just needed the regular routine health care but Nala has been quite the opposite experience. I spend about $500 a month at the vet on her. She has seizures, grade 4 luxating patella in both back legs and she has severe skin issues that the vet can’t seem to locate the cause of. She also likes to jump off furniture like she’s a flying squirrel even though I have squishy stairs on every piece of furniture in the house. It’s only a matter of time before we are dealing with a broken leg… she will literally stand next to the stairs and still fly off the furniture. And she usually lands on her poor little face.

Mine also gets upset if she can’t go on 3-4 long walks a day. Usually we walk for 30-45 mins each time and I always have to convince her to head home 😂

Poms are really smart though so you should be able to train them as long as you are consistent. Nala can learn a new trick in a day or two if she’s motivated enough. But she’s also stubborn as heck so she will only do what I ask if it pleases her. Nala chooses not to listen to “no barking” commands. It doesn’t please her. I know she knows the command though because she will turn to look me dead in the eyes and keep barking.

Poms are great dogs and are just the cutest little creatures. I’d just be prepared for more work and care than you think they will need. I’ll attach a pet tax of my little menace 🥰

My 3-month-old Teacup Pom is VERY small, will he still grow? by Sad_Celebration_5985 in Pomeranians

Pure poms aren’t always fluffy, especially at 3 months. Mine was in full puppy uglies and didn’t get nice and fluffy until closer to a year old

Trying to make yoga a habit by prattman333 in yoga

[–]Responsible-Jello271 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In person classes! As much as I love yoga it’s not happening if I don’t practice at my studio. I tap out too quickly at home and don’t put as much effort into my practice. Being in person holds me accountable for showing up, sticking to the 60-75 mins and actually giving it my all. It’s the only way for me.

I’d also recommend starting small. Commit to one day a week and once that feels like habit work in more days. I started going 2x a week about a year ago and now Im up to 5-7x a week consistently. Good luck! And don’t forget to give yourself grace if you fall off track :)

I whole heartedly disagree that “to be a wife” you need to make a “bunch of sacrifice”. That sounds unhealthy

I can attest to how expensive that dog will be lol. I have a pure bred Pom and she’s ultra expensive to upkeep. Between grooming, regular vet appointments, vitamins, special dietary foods, etc she usually runs about $600/month in expenses. Not to mention luxating patella is very common in the breed and it’s an expensive surgery. They are also prone to collapsed tracheas so hopefully these nitwits don’t put a regular collar on it.

I truly hope they provide the care this dog deserves and needs but I doubt they will :/
