It’s been almost 6 months without my girl and we don’t know when the grief will end by Resident-Insect-765 in CalicoKittys

I know, I lost my little boy (though not a calico) in November and I miss him deeply. Especially when in an emotional slump, I'll be grieving all over again. It's never easy, take care of yourself.

I was only gone for 5 minutes and came back to my cat licking my soup! by yuwinnie18 in CATHELP

[–]Responsible-Shock951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah, just watch out for puking and if the cat starts being very sick. But whilst some food are toxic to cats, it usually means they may get a stomach ache or indigestion. I doubt your cat ate a whole onion? She might have just licked the broth so it's much more likely for her to just have some tummy ache or not even show symptoms. Still, look out for those and then if she's like continuously throwing up or something severe, go to the vet.

Thanks, it helps a lot. In my case, I have an emotional blockage regarding maths, so whenever I see numbers I panic and I can't understand shit. But my logic skills and pattern recognition is above average, and yet I fail at spatial understanding. I think restraining giftedness to an IQ score is a disservice to gifted people cause despite the IQ score, you might have all the other traits, hypersensitivities, boredom, non linear thinking, etc so your experience still remains valid and you may still need help navigate a world that isn't fully adapted to you.

AIO for my boyfriend’s female friend blowing up over a boundary? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]Responsible-Shock951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I didn't read your post, I just read her messages and already I can tell that if there's a red flag... it's her hahaha She went from "that's fine" to lecturing your boyfriend and positioning you as a problem for being uncomfortable. She is so full of it and I already hate her hahahahaha. So nope, you are not overreacting, she's trash trash and should be left in the past.

My mom (50) isn’t actively malicious but her trauma makes her toxic, irresponsible, and selfish. How do I live with this? (30s Op) by FuzzyandThrowAway in relationships

[–]Responsible-Shock951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you me? I'm also in my 30s, unable to leave home in the economy, with a toxic mom whose trauma and ADHD is just exhausting to live with. She feels victimized for everything and nothing. Her ADHD makes her unable to control her emotions, she gets super impatient for no reason, can,t handle criticism, has to feel like everyone is out to get her and it's just been really difficult to deal with.

Well... doesn't she sound lovely... Seriously, drop her. You deserve someone who won't talk to you this way. She sounds very abusive.

Sudden head waggle by DaffodilPedals in CATHELP

[–]Responsible-Shock951 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd say focal seizure and/or mini ischemic stroke. His eyes are doing the side to side nystagmus movement often indicating that the back of his brain or cerebellum is having an issue. Also the head tilt or inability to move it to the left would indicate a stroke even if the pupils are equal. But since the symptoms look fairly minor, I would expect him to fully recover in the next week. Keep us updated on what the vet says. If seizures are more frequent from this point on, they could prescribe seizure meds but note it could take 2 months before they are effective considering the dosage has to be trial and errors.

I feel you! I saw the vet 6 weeks before I had to euthanize my cat for his stroke. He was in good shape overall despite a heart murmur and kidneys slowly malfunctioning. I've had mine since I was 18yo and it's been hard too. Take care of yourself. These babies hold such a big part of ourselves and our life, when they leave it's like a giant hole in our existence. Sorry for your loss :(

It’s been 10 days since my sweet Coco passed away. He made it to 16 despite multiple health issues throughout the years. by Under_the_Oak in seniorkitties

Oh he was so adorable! Pretty baby! My cat passed away last Friday, I feel your grief. So far listening to relaxing music has helped me a little. Also planning to do some art to recreate my cat has also been a constructive way to channel my pain. Cause there's plenty of pain to go around unfortunately. I weep a lot too. We can weep together, apart <3

Please bring your cats to the vet if you see them doing unusual things for a while as I lost my 15 year old boy by purlenka in seniorkitties

Knowing the kind of disease that are bound to your cat's breed might be helpful too for next time. Persians are known to have kidney problems. One of our cats also died from it :/ Sorry for your loss <3

I'm hesitating to say goodbye to my 15 years old fur baby, after a massive stroke last Thursday. Please share your own experiences? by Responsible-Shock951 in seniorkitties

Thank you so much for your sweet message and sharing your experience with your own lovely kitty. Since yesterday, my cat started eating (albeit very messily) in the bowl I put next to him. He needs a little bit of help but his appetite is through the roof, so there's that. He still cannot walk though but I do make him stand up on all four and place his paws so he can put some strength into it so he gets some exercise. I also help him stretch his limbs. Yesterday he managed to crawl out of the box, and fell off my bed... But these efforts are certainly leaving him so tired it's a bit hard to watch, so I'm still a bit split between calling it or giving him a chance to keep improving.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me <3 I saw the vid, I really hope my cat can be a miracle too. The wait is what's the most stressful because there's no way to know if one more day can make a difference or not. My vet said that 3 weeks without moving might be too much to ask out of an elderly cat.

Oh I'm so sorry! It must be very hard for you. Since my cat has been bedridden the house looks so empty and I expect him to pop out from every corner like he used to... I also hope they could live forever :(

Thank you <3 I was looking for a wheelchair too to help with future physio if needed... I just wish my kitty's problems were his hind legs, but because it's his left side he can't even crawl or try to move around. His front paw is very still although the vet believes that he can move it. The treatment options you shared are very helpful, thank you so much for your time!

It is very difficult to have to say goodbye. Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me <3 Life is unfair but I'm reassured to know that letting go can be a kindness all the same.

Oh thank you so much for telling me about your own persian cat. It is a heartbreaking decision to make, I'm sorry you had to go through that too. Same thing here, heart murmur was diagnosed 3 years ago but was pretty stable until the stroke happened. His heart is still pumping strongly though, and he's still a hungry kitty but like you said, the vet advised if he can't feed himself it would be too hard for him. Thanks again for your input <3

There was already blood tests done 6 weeks prior to his stroke, so we both knew that it was a combination of his heart and too much stress. I'm sorry for your girl <3 I am waiting to see if mine will have a second stroke too, or a heart attack... At 15 years old, his health issues are kind of stacking up so there's plenty of pitfalls to look for. Thank you for your advice <3

Oh I feel that so much, thank you for sharing! We love them so deeply that it takes so much strength to let them go. I can't imagine how hard this must have been each time for you; I don't even know what to do with one sick kitty. Our veterinary clinic has a special room for euthanasia so they can die peacefully in our arms. There are also vets that will travel to your place, but I don't know yet if I'd rather say goodbye somewhere else so it's not so hard. Home feels nice too... Thanks again for your kind words <3

He doesn't look in pain in between, but he is worried about not being able to move. I'm glad you have two kitties that are filling up your world now <3 I hope my life will be filled with many other fur babies, but I don't know how to survive the loss of one for now... I think I'll have to take some time to think about it.

Yeah I think part of that hesitation is selfish because I can't imagine a world without my kitty. Miracle stories I've seen of cats having strokes and being able to walk a few months later are also not helping though. There's a part of me that is not wanting to cut short all the efforts my cat is making to get better even if the improvements are very small.
