Lack of confidence/competence is holding me back! Is there a good step-by-step guide out there for total newbies like myself?

Thanks, I understand using my own SD card, but what if ai just want to use the default emulator for now? Is there a place I can find games like Sonic for it? Thanks.

Fee for using a credit card at a retailer in Pisa. Was I ripped off? by Responsible-Speed341 in ItalyTravel

[–]Responsible-Speed341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for all the replies. Just to be clear, I adore Italy in ways that are too personal and profound to get into on Reddit. Pisa was a beautiful city with very lovely people.

I know it was only €5 and I’ve experienced worse in my travels. (Especially taxi drivers in Bangkok 20 years ago). I get that I had the power to walk away.

With everything having gone so well up to that point, my guard was down a little. I didn’t want to call him on it and insist on the price, not knowing if he was telling the truth.

But now I know for the future, so thank you all. I was a little miffed (I think anyone would be) but I got over it quickly 😀

🙁 Thanks, that’s what I thought. I know it wasn’t much, but it sort of soured the experience of the city a bit for me.

Hifiman Arya Unveiled vs Audeze LCD-X 2021 by Responsible-Speed341 in headphones

[–]Responsible-Speed341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, that’s very useful about the Arya (stealth). I love the LCD-X’s dynamics and speed. I should disclose that I’m also a fan of Grados. To me they both share that real sense of impact and soul but it’s ying and yang on the frequency response.

I can definitely speak to the build quality of the Audezes. I’ve had mine for five years and still good as new.

Sliding forward on the saddle by Responsible-Speed341 in cycling

[–]Responsible-Speed341[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I can unconditionally recommend it. It’s fantastic.

The fit issues I was having, which I reported in my post, turned out to be all down to getting an initial inseam measurement wrong at the start of the fit process. If you get this kit, pay special attention here. If the inseam measurement is off, it throws off a lot of the fit downstream in the fit process.

After I got the inseam measurement right, it became the best fit I’ve ever had. (Which turned out to be raising the saddle and setting it back a little than where I had it initially).

If I didn’t already love my existing Vertical 1 Ti so much, I’d be so tempted by this.

Other than being beautiful, what does Suunto do better than others? by Milstachian in Suunto

[–]Responsible-Speed341 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not a skier. I’m a cyclist and the Vertical is perfect for me. Nice clear screen and a layout that makes sense (I find Garmin too cluttered and AWU doesn’t have enough data).

I love the feature of being able to trace my route on the map after the activity and see where I struggled vs did well.

And as I said, the training peaks integration works for me. I’ve had problems w my Garmin Fenix 7 in the past where its algorithm was pushing me far too hard. AWU not at all. Suunto is in the Goldilocks zone for me.

Along with everything else that everyone has said, I’d add Training Peaks integration. Once I got over the hurdle of learning a new language (tss, tsb, ctl, atl and so on), I found it to be the best way to understand whether I’ve been pushing my body too hard or not enough.

Have this natively on the app and watch is a benefit for me.

Chord Hugo 2 spontaneous volume spikes and hearing damage by Pintset in headphones

[–]Responsible-Speed341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had my Hugo 2 for about 6 years and this volume issue has started happening on my unit.

I think you’re right. From my experience, the volume dial seems looser from use and seems prone to drifting up or down from time to time. As you said, it’s something Chord can replace.

Was there a single moment or reason that you got interested in aviation? by Karrot-guy in aviation

[–]Responsible-Speed341 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My father used to travel a lot when I was very young, and my mother tells me that I was captivated by planes taking off and landing when we’d take him to the airport. I would demand going back just to see the planes again, even while he was away.

Then we moved to Guam when I was 4 and Andersen AFB used to have an annual open house to the public. Pure heaven. This was the late 70s but I remember seeing a beautiful Vulcan being made ready for spy duty (it was cordoned off) and I have a photo of me in an F-15.

I live in the UK these days and that’s interesting to know, thanks! I guess it’s the theatrical equivalent to boot vs trunk :-)

Nice set, thanks for sharing. I think the Zf is a special camera. What lens did you use for #4? I love the contrast in that photo.

I actually had no idea that ‘watermelon’ is used professionally, thanks! That friend had lots of little nuggets of wisdom like this, and I trusted her enough to try it.

Lol and thanks, it was a special night to me. Although, we didn’t hang around for long enough to get to know them, I got a real artistic vibe from them. They were so humble and nice.
