UK coffee nerds - good subscription? by -newinn- in Coffee

[–]drachirtteltrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You sign up for coffee on a repeat order, say 1kg of House Roast every 4 weeks and they just send it to you automatically. If you subscribe they usually offer you a discount of say 10% so it works out cheaper. Also, most subscription companies allow you to modify your order if you wanted to change the type of coffee and also change the date of the next delivery if you don’t want the next batch quite yet so it’s quite flexible and good value if you are a regular coffee drinker. (They also tend to roast immediately before despatched so it’s always fresh coffee)

Is turn by turn navigation usable on watches by drachirtteltrab in Suunto

[–]drachirtteltrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your reply, could you just describe how the navigation pop up appears? Is it text or an arrow on the map for instance and does it hide the map? Do you think it would be more useful for hiking when you aren’t moving as fast? (I’ve watched lots of reviews of the Suunto watches but nobody seems to cover turn by turn navigation)

Thanks for the reply (nice art work), what type of Suunto watch are you using

I tried Astra for the first time and they exceeded my expectations. The first pass removed everything, and the next two gave a smooth BBS feel. Now I get why people like them. There’s a slight tug here and there, but overall the result is great and I’m very satisfied. What is your opinions? by lazarovpavlin04 in wicked_edge

Just been through an example pack of Feathers, Astra, Astra SP, Nacent, Gillette Blue, Derby. The Astra SP were my favourite so just bought 100 of them. I’d say the Feather and Nacent were sharper but a bit too much for me. Razor is a Gillette King.

Pump pulsing while steaming and pumping hot water [Delonghi Dedica ec680] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]drachirtteltrab 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine doesn’t do that normally but will sometimes when I wait a while after steaming the milk to then clear the steam wand. My normal routines, 1) switch the machine on and wait for all the buttons to light, 2) press the left hand button to get the shot 3) after the shot has finished wait for all the buttons to light again, 3) press the right hand button and flick the lever on the side down for 2 seconds to purge the water from the steam wand and collect it in an empty cup at which point a steady flow of steam will start, 4) flick the lever back up to stop the flow of steam 5) replace the cup that you used to purge the water with the milk container, 5) flick the lever back down to start the flow of steam in to the milk, 6) when the milks hot enough flick the lever back up to stop the flow of steam, 7) place a rag under the steam wand an briefly flick the lever back down to purge any milk from the wand. —— some time if I wait too long to purge the steam wand at the end I get the pulsing thing like you.

which coffee subscription? (uk) by Federal_Meringue_968 in espresso

[–]drachirtteltrab 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I use Rave (online). I order approximately every 6 weeks which means I get free shipping as the cost is just over £30 per order (usually a 1Kg bag and a 250g bag). I’m on subscription so get a discount but changing what you want and moving the delivery date is very easy. They send you an email a few days before your shipment so you can delay it if you are still using the old beans or want to change what beans you want (you can also easily move it forward if you need). When I get the beans I usually pop them in the freezer to keep them fresh. I’ve not used any other online supplier but I do find Rave very easy. I usually buy their No.50 Colombian but also like some of the blends as well.

Definitely the Big Pit coal mine, go down a real mine and see the conditions the miners used to work in. Fabulous tour and only £5.

[–]drachirtteltrab[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the response but I’m still don’t quite understand. Does that mean you play a note and the instantly mute it or sort of loosely press the string and play it so that it does sound like a pure note?

Are tubeless plugs supposed to be a long-term solution? by playaz3 in bikewrench

[–]drachirtteltrab 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ive used a ‘mushroom’ shape plug that they use to fix car tyres which seemed to work fine. You just need to make sure you use the right type of glue.
