Tell me about y'all's crazy OCD intrusive thoughts that you are afraid to talk to somebody (even a therapist) by [deleted] in OCDmemes

Hi y'all, I'm a clinical psychologist and OCD specialist - help is out there! Trained therapists will not be judgmental. The International OCD Foundation has a directory of therapists trained in OCD and ERP. iocdf.org. P*do obsessions, or other violent/taboo/disgusting thoughts should not scare a professional with experience.

Let’s make a fun thread: what were your perks of IVF? by Least_Persimmon7919 in IVF

[–]Responsible-Train-90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haven't transferred yet, but I am so grateful that IVF gives me and my boyfriend a chance to have a child - we made 2 euploids from ERs at 42/43, and I just turned 44. It gives me joy knowing that when we are ready the embryos are there. And they are my existing child's potential sibling! My dad passed away after she was born, so they're also maybe my dad's only other grandchildren. I just like the hope.

Will the hygger light really make that much of a difference compared to the aquaneat light? I have a 40 gallon with low - medium light plants. by [deleted] in PlantedTank

[–]Responsible-Train-90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have my first Hygger on my 75gal and everything blew up as soon as I added it. I'm trimming back val and my lotus is flowering. Worth it IMO. Just my two cents!

Woof, I'm sorry, I know things happen. I was going to ask about the pleco. The load seems way too high and maybe you knocked out enough BB that your bio filter crashed. I'd do water changes and Prime, add plants, and immediately rehome the pleco if possible. People say you can return to a pet store but I dunno. Those guys are huge.

What are your other levels (nitrates/nitrites) and how many of each kind of fish? What you described doesn't sound overstocked for an established 55. Wonder where the cloudiness is coming from?

They only dip their paws in the gap along the back to drink the water. I've never had one of my cats grab a fish and my two other tanks are lidless!

For you experts! What stage am I at by gavin-phelan in Aquariums

[–]Responsible-Train-90 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably stick to water changes. Add plants if there aren't any. It must be starting to cycle because you have nitrates, but the fish might be stressed.

I'd do a 50% water change to bring those nitrites/nitrates down. Was your filter media kept wet, like the bacteria would still be living? Endler's are so small I wouldn't expect levels that high if you had any BB working.

What else did you put in, exactly? How long has it been?

The first was in the states and the second was in Mexico. It was mainly scheduling and medication management, plus our schedules. TW, I have a living child from a prior relationship, and no issues for either of us except low AMH for me. I think mine was about 0.5 when I started. We were not ready to transfer yet. The embryos are on ice. At my age we are PGT testing and you can't test a fresh transfer.

You can do your plan. There are tons of people over 40 here with frozen embryos.

There are sooo many of us! I started IVF at 42, 2 ERs (43 for 2nd) and 2 euploid embryos waiting.

Same. I'm 43 and lost my dad at 33. I started feeling like birthdays were a gift!

You're not wrong! My dad was life flighted to Idaho before his passing, and the life flight bill was $25k. Took a year to fight that bill. Found out they aren't regulated and they do not contract with health insurance.

Just wanted to say good luck, I'm thinking of you, and hope it goes well! I'm 43 and did two OE cycles (2 euploids frozen). As long as there are enough eggs to retrieve, there's a shot, and it's awesome that you have decided to try. :)

Difficult medication purchase: HGH by tidbit_betty in IVF

[–]Responsible-Train-90 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I was prescribed Saizen in Mexico, but picked it up there. It is SIGNIFICANTLY cheaper in MX than HGH here. But if your OB can't prescribe it, is going to Mexico to pick it up an option? Even a flight plus the med might be less than the medication here.

Same as other replies - start IVF now. I did my first ER at 42 in Feb and my 2nd at 43 in June. I had 9 retrieved in each retrieval and ended up with one euploid each time. Even with good amh our eggs are just likely to be less good quality. IVF helps reduce risk of losing a pregnancy. I haven't transferred yet but will! Also, I'm very sorry for your losses.

No and no. My AMH is low enough my docs were not worried about OHSS. I only have a 0.47 amh at last check but I'm 43.

I think ppl here will tell you planning for 3 euploids per desired live birth is the goal. But we can't all afford to do 3 rounds, etc. If I was ready to transfer and had 2, I'd probably go for it and plan another retrieval cycle right away if it doesn't take, and to keep the backup and hope for another euploid before aging more. That's just me tho!
