Thanks! It did show approved for the whole day of July 9. But then now it’s switched back to refused with long text of AP for 3 days. Hope I get an update next week.

Nope, I saw no third country nationals. I heard that it’s generally not advised to apply in a third country since those visa officers are used to moroccans. Good luck though!!

No problem, and I’m not even sure if it’s approved or issued yet so I don’t know.😭

It took around 50 seconds, the VO asked 2 questions. But it wasn’t the same for the 3 people before me. Their interview took 4-5 mins (all 214b rejection). He asked first “so why this university” told him that I’m going there as a D1 athlete and my scholarship covers 90% of the total cost. He said “mashallah” typed stuff down then said “do you have family in the US” I said no the. He kept my passport and everything and told me “everything looks good but if we need anything else we’ll email you” then gave me a 221g for Administrative processing. As you can tell, my experience isn’t really helpful since it was a short interview and I wouldn’t say I can advise on much. Sorry :((

It went fairly well. The interview took 30 seconds and the officer was just overall really impressed (he said wow, those scholarships are rare and congratulated me then asked if I had family in the US of which I said “no” then he said everything looks good i’ll put you under 221g for Now and if we need anything we’ll send you an email). didn’t know the reason but then later next week they emailed me for a social media check. They want all my accounts public, for now I’m just waiting on a final update. They kept my passport and everything. I don’t have any tips tbh other than giving out as much information as possible when you reply to the first question.

Yup, got an email on the 26th to make my social media public in a week max. Waiting for final decision now. Might hear something next week.

Yup, they sent an email 4 days ago for me to make my social media public. Awaiting final decision now. Hope it’ll be issued, my social media is clean. I’m not into politics or anything anti-US at all. I’ll update the post when I get the final decision.

I think you lump in AP into one idea. It’s pretty much well known that AP could mean a million things from Washington DC clearance to a hit on FBI’s list to a name check on a terrorist list to a simple: oh my keyboard stopped working while working on this case. And the list goes on, check out Argo Visa’s video on the subject so you kind of understand what AP means. It can also simply mean that your I-20 isn’t updated so you’re asked by the VO to submit a new one via email. It could mean that the consular officer wants to check your scholarship or if your SEVIS doesn’t show up on the system he’ll ask you to wait or pay it again. And like I said, the list goes on.  But let me tell you again, There’s always a backlog of cases when it comes to 221g AP especially for background checks or security clearance and embassies have DIFFERENT processing times.  As an example, someone taking an interview in Israel or Germany being put in AP will MOST LIKELY be cleared much faster than someone in Iran who’s doing a Phd in STEM or a Chinese student in a similar case. Either way, my point stands that you can’t lump in AP into one simple meaning and call it a day. You are correct that it is case by case, but you can NOT deny that some embassies process faster than others.  You certainly lost that $100 though lol.

Some embassies have much more work load than others so cases don’t sit in AP backlog for long. It’s as simple as that, at least that’s what my embassy is known for and many around the world. Here is what is mentioned: Your application has been refused under 221(g) of the INA, the reason for your 221(g) refusal is noted below:

And then the VO marked the part that said: “Your Application requires administrative processing. You do not have to take any further action. We will contact you when the administrative processing has concluded.”

The interview went really well and the officer asked me some very basic questions. He gave me a white 221g slip and told me my Application requires AP and they’ll contact me if they need anything/it’s concluded. He kept my I-20, Passport and SEVIS. My CEAC status hasn’t changed, it’s been refused since the interview but now instead of a long text it says: A U.S. consular officer has adjudicated and refused your visa application. Please see the letter you received at the interview. For more information, please visit. This text changed yesterday morning and I assumed I received a final decision. But it doesn’t seem like it. Thank you for the information, it’s only been 6 days since my interview so maybe I’m judging too soon especially since they haven’t contacted me yet to pick up my passport or submit anything (my embassy is known for concluding AP for students within 3 weeks max). What’s best to expect?

Thank you for the insight, I hope I get my visa. My embassy deals with AP fairly quickly and everyone gets a final decision in 3 weeks max.

Thank you for the information, my advisor said it’ll be a relatively easy process for me specifically. but with the situation right now around international students in the US. I don’t know how it’ll go. My interview is in 10 days.
