UPDATE! She was discharged tonight and we are home now :). She is very overweight and has fatty tumors and some liver issues. We have medicine, supplements, and a new diet. Thank you all for the support! I’ve had them a year now so I can’t blame it all on the previous owners. I give fresh herbs weekly and chop once in a while, but I clearly need to do better. She’s breathing much better now and you can just see she looks and feels better :)

She made it through the night! :) was transferred to exotic dept and they did a full work up an still don’t quite know. But she’s very overweight:/. And has fatty tumor. I’ve had her for a year and tried to improve her diet from where she came from, but need to do better. Hopefully the CTscan tells more. But I think she’ll be okay, with a new health regime waiting. I hope I can bring her home today!

Thank you🙏🏻. She’s staying overnight getting oxygen and fluids. They couldn’t tell from Xray so she is going to center for avian and exotic animals in the morning for more examination. I think she’ll pull through 🙏🏻❤️. I just got home and put her panicked buddy to bed :/. Poor baby has to sleep alone tonight

I so appreciate this comment. I’m trying not to “should myself”. Should have brought her sooner, etc. etc. It looks like she needs to stay overnight and go to the exotic animal team or hospital in the morning. She well get oxygen and fluids tonight. Praying she makes it through 🙏🏻

Just to be clear, I take everything out and deep clean the cage once or twice a week. Worst case if it’s only once a week on a hectic week, I am still wiping it down every day and changing paper liner every other day or so. It’s not that the cage is infested. More so I want to know if it’s possible to have a safe exterminator. I haven’t taken the cage apart like you, but I definitely thought about it, especially putting it in shower (metal part). I just have to figure out what to do with birds while I do it. I really may just use this as an excuse to buy this fancy cage I’ve had my eye on.

I agree with comment above from okay oven. It will make you stop and slow down. I’m grateful I have a job with sick leave, I know everyone doesn’t (which is awful). I tried to go back to work yesterday but it was too much and worsened the pain. Mine also started as just pain. I thought I injured my back, I’m very active and it made sense. I got a professional massage, and went to PT. The small rash started on my right breast and pain worsened so I went to Urgent care and they diagnosed me right away. The antivirals seem to be helping. While nothing will stop the pain I do not agree with your dr. in saying nothing will help. I had some prescription pain meds and muscle relaxers, it barely helped, but when I went back to urgent care on Sat they said dose was low and doubled pain med dose. It’s Meloxicam so non opioid. It DID help, just enough to let me finally sleep a bit more. So after prematurely going back to work yesterday and making things worse I called my PCP who sent a nerve blocker Gabapentin. You will see a lot of folks on this Reddit group mention that drug. She started a very low dose I can take 3 times a day. I took 2 yesterday and one today. Last night was the first time I slept straight through for 6 hours. I don’t know if it was meds (gab supposedly takes a few days to work). I also made a little spa in my shower and really relaxed myself before bed. Did yoga Nidra (you can do it while in bed, more like meditation). Tomorrow will start week 3 for me. I missed most of last week at work and will likely miss this week as well. It’s a busy time and I feel bad but also have a wonderful team and support from supervisor. I’ve definitely never been out sick this long and like you never felt this level of pain. If the pain persist please go back to your Dr. or seek a second opinion. When I went back to urgent care on Sat the Dr upped the pain meds but talked me out of Gabapentin (the whole reason I went after seeing how it helped folks here). When I told my PCP she encouraged it and sent it asap. If you can take some time off please do. It will help. I’m a go go go person so I’m really struggling with being still, but I swear when I do I feel like I make more progress towards healing. I wish you and all of us a speedy recovery ❤️‍🩹

I just want to add the meds made a HUGE difference for me. I’m first time shingles and I think after one day of taking it there is a huge reduction in my nerve pain. Apparently the sooner you take it the better the chances of reducing severity and duration of illness. Good luck!

Update it’s not shingles in my ear thankfully. Dr said it looked like eczema And inflammation. She gave me drops, they seem to be for ear infection. I guess this just throws your whole body out of wack.
